LOUIS
sunday, five days after

My impatience grew as the hands on the clock continue moving rapidly. The hours were out of my control and I could not handle waiting this long.

Clifford took her out and I am sure he has some sixth grade crush on her. He is an honourable man though, so I should trust him with her. Seeing her with him hurts me a lot; my emotions are wild and have never been this way before. But she has a smile on her face, and that is all I'll ever want. I know I probably love her enough to not be selfish, but when I take her away from somebody who makes her smile, the job's already done.

I know my feelings for her now. It's powerful; it's enough to drive me all over the town looking for her. Jos' happiness is never at the top when she's with me. But then again, she never is with me anymore after Clifford met her.

Hemmings has been off ever since she arrived. I don't know what it is, but she doesn't deserve everything he's given her.

The door knob jingles and I stand up immediately. It sounds like they're struggling. In seconds, Clifford appears with Josephine, asleep, in his arms. I stare at her in awe because somehow, she looks like an angel even when she's passed out.

I nod for him to give her to me. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, she just fell asleep in the car. I was just gonna put her to bed," he whispers.

She stirs in her slumber. She doesn't do that.

"Oh, I'll take her."

"Nah, it's okay. I got this."

"No, she's no problem. I can take her."

He hesitates, looking between the girl and I, but eventually hands her to me.

He goes to clean himself up, and I bring her to her room. I decide not to leave.

"Jos, I know you're not asleep."

Her eyes open with the most adorable confusion. I smile at her and her face flushes. Maybe she could feel the same way I feel for her.

"Hey," she mumbles.

"You still up for that movie night? And I know it's somebody's 19th birthday tomorrow..  I checked the student page at HCH..." I trails off. She smiles, rolls her river eyes that I could easily get lost in, and pulls me in a hug. Her body, smaller compared to mine, felt freezing. I held her tightly with my arms wrapped around her torso.

"Thank you," she whispers. And I nod while playing with her hair.

[spoiler for movie oculus]

"Um, that was creepy. He got arrested. That's so weird. They went into different dimensions or something! That's so sad because it's just a repeat of what happened when they were younger except he's alone now and she's dead!" I sputter out.

She laughs and shushes me. The horror film doesn't scare me. In fact, it was kind of boring. The crunch of popcorn fills the silent room now that the girl is dead.
