The Tale Continues (Saiunkoku Monogatari Fanfiction: Ryuuki x Shuurei lemon)

List of Characters

(For those who have not watched the anime Saiunkoku Monogatari or The Tales of Saiunkoku or have not seen the continuation of the light novels. This has a lot of spoilers if you have not yet seen the continuation of season 2)

Kou Shuurei – a princess of the Kou Clan, one of the seven noble families of Saiunkoku; a strong-willed princess whose dream is to be an official. She is the only child of Shouka and Bara-hime (the Red Immortal). In the anime though, they changed her last name to Hong, following the other translations. She had a weak body and to save her life her mother sealed herself inside her and lengthened her life. After being allowed to take the exams to be an official (thanks to Emperor Ryuuki changing the law and allowing women to participate in politics), Shuurei together with Eigatsu became the governor of Sa province. Later she became an inspector in the Censorate.

Shi Ryuuki – the lonely emperor of Saiunkoku who was said to be a falcon that hides its' talons; a determined and loyal lover of Shuurei. He is kind and gentle that many officials do not respect him due to it. He is a good king though but as shown in the anime, he lacked the resolve and experience to rule. He overcomes his weaknesses slowly though as the book progressed.

Kou Shouka – father of Shuurei, not known to many that he is also the legendary Kokuro (which means Black wolf and was a servant of the previous king); was asked by the previous king to protect Seiran and Ryuuki. He was seen by many to be philosophical and very knowledgeable. In the anime he was an Archivist, but later on in the light novels he became the Head of the Kou family.

Shi Seiran (also Prince Seien) – brother of Ryuuki but was exiled years ago and was taken in by Shouka (Seiran calls him Master); loves Ryuuki, Shuurei, and Shouka deeply. He is a knowledgeable and skilled person in a young age that he was hated as Prince Seien. He is a perfectionist even after he grew up. He is a military official assigned to guard Tei Yuushun (the prime minister).

Ran Shuuei – member of the Ran family, one of the ibis flowers' (most trusted retainers) of Ryuuki; an exceptional swordsman who is loyal to the emperor and to his clan. He leaves his clan though to completely devote his loyalty to the emperor. A famous womanizer but secretly, he is inlove with Shusui. In the light novels, when Shusui was imprisoned in the Prison of Time by Ruka (High Priestess of the Hyou clan) in the Hyou clan, Shuuei flies to the clan and saves Shusui.

Shusui – a very beautiful maiden who has the power to use clairvoyance magic. She is from the Hyou clan and was also one of the assassin dolls before Shouka took him with her. She was alos a member of the Wolves of the wind wherein Shouka is the leader. She is the lady in waiting of Bara-hime when Shouka freed her so they took Shusui who conspired along with them. She fell inlove to Shouka and is content of loving silently since she also loves Bara-hime and Shuurei so much. She does not know of Shuuei's feelings for her.

Li Kouyuu – one of the ibis flowers' of the emperor which means he is highly trusted; a wise and very intellectual man who has no sense of direction; was asked to marry Shuurei but he decided he was content to being the way they are now. He was demoted from his rank in the light novels due to Reishin's failure as the Secretary of Civil Ministry. He then became a supernumerary official to strive and climb the ranks again.

Kou Sera – I am not so sure about Sera-hime but I think it is mentioned that she is Kurou's daughter. She is a princess of the Kou clan just like Shuurei. She had a brother and if I remember it right, the name is Hakuryuu. It was said that she is receiving a lot of marriage proposals.

Kou Reishin – previous head of the Kou clan, brother of Shouka and Kurou and father of Kouyuu. He adopted Kouyuu when he is not yet married to Yuri-hime. Reishin is a genius who does not know how to express his love and is very awkward. He is so engrossed to Shuurei and Shouka and does his best to protect them in his own way. He also loves Kouyuu but fails to show it.

Yuri-hime – daughter of Gyoukukan (great aunt of Shouka, Kurou and Reishin). She is supposed to be the bride of Shouka but he married Bara-hime. Yuri was a servant of Reishin before but soon they got married. She is also the woman who rejected Kijin/Houjo. She is beautiful, loving, and brave. She helps in maintaining the Kou clan and.

Hyou Riou (Jr.) – a knowledgeable boy who is the son of the lazy head of the Hyou clan. He sees himself as powerless while Ryuuki sees him highly. Despite being so young, he talks and acts very maturely. He was adopted by Ryuuki later in the light novels.

Ro Ensei – previous governor of Sa Province; an old acquaintance of Seiran; extremely good in combat and became an underling of Shuurei in the Censorate. He is a strong and reliable person and is more talented when it comes to practical matters. He is good in understanding people and encouraging them.

Ran Jyuusan – a sister of Shuuei and Ryuuren; the 13th princess of the Ran Clan who is highly trained and skilled in the art of the sword (she uses twin swords/blades) and martial arts; took up the position of Shusui as head of the court ladies (ladies in waiting for the inner palace). Later in the light novels, it was said that she fell inlove with Ryuuki but soon she silently gives up her love. She became famous in the military.

Adviser Shou – the highest in the order of the three elders or grand masters; a wise man who only dreams to shape the emperor to be excellent due to a promise he made to the first emperor of Saiunkoku; previous prime minister during the reign of Ryuuki's father. He is the Purple immortal.

Adviser Sou – one of the three elders or grand masters and a former general, he trained Ryuuki in the art of swordsmanship.

Tei Yuushun – the Prime minister of Saiunkoku as designated by Ryuuki. In the light novels, it was revealed that he is very cunning and nearly betrayed Ryuuki but due to Ryuuki sticking to his own principles and saving him, Yuushun served Ryuuki again.

Ran Ryuuren (Ryurin in the anime) – a prodigy of the Ran family and the youngest brother of Shuuei. He is also Jyuusan's half-brother. He is a genius and is also highly skilled in martial arts but does not show it. His flute is very heavy and he sometimes uses it in combat. He is an eccentric due to his talents and it was later revealed that he is the vessel of the Blue Immortal. He is redeemed to be the oracle of the Ran clan.

Sai Rin – the wife of Yuushun. She is a merchant and likewise a talented inventor. She is a friend of Shuurei and gives her some of her inventions for self-defense. It was later revealed in the light novels that she hid her pregnancy from Yuushun.

Shin Suou – he is also called as Tantan due to the tanuki's he is wearing. He is a sharp-tongued person as he says directly whatever he is thinking. He is very observant though and has talent to be a Censor/Inspector. He also became an inspector in the Censorate (Department of Government Inspection) just like Shuurei. He does not fear anyone even if they have higher rank than he is.
