It was the second to last day of school, and social studies continued dragging on longer than usual. Amber was one of your average day to day sophmores at City View Highschool. There must be nothing in the world that is interesting right now, Amber though to herself. Glancing at the clock, she noticed that they only had a few more minutes until the bell rang. In Mr. Meyer's's class, there seemed to be a built in no-fun force field of some sort. Even the funniest of people seemed to deflate in the sad atmosphere. As Amber continued to gaze at the class's expressionless face in a bored state of mind, her friend Haley interrupted.

"Hey, found anything yet, because I'm beginning to think he doesn't have a soul, therefore no feelings, " Haley commented in a whisper.

"Nah, probably just a vampire, or at least one that's tired of living anyway," Amber replied.

"Well I'm stickin' with science and saying he's depressed," sighed Toby, just a few seats away, who was another one of Amber's close friends.

"Excuse me for interrupting your little chit-chat, but I am trying to teach a lesson here, so unless you would like detention, I'd advise to listen," announced Mr. Meyers.Just as Mr. Meyers finished his sentence, the bell rung like the sweet sound of an ice cream truck on a hot summer's day. At this everyone in the class packed up their belongings like no tomorrow, and burst through the door. As the small gang finally made it to the hallway, each of them were swept away from each other while they were saying their good-byes for the day. As Amber soon came upon the find of her locker, her closest childhood friend Andrew showed up right beside her. Being one of the greatest looking, most popular guys in the school, the crowd easily departed out of his way.

"Hey girly girl, want to hitch a ride in my car to your house instead of the bus, you know it's much quicker," he said with his usual pearly white smile.

"Of course, you know how much I hate the bus anyway," she replied easily.

As they made their way out to the parking lot together, Amber noticed a group of girls watching Andrew with gawking expressions on their faces. Seeing this made her frown, knowing that they were gawking at her best friend. As they approached one of the far corners of the parking lot, Amber moaned at the sight of the beat up old vehicle Andrew's parents still made him drive. The old Chevrolet Citation no longer showed any sign of ever being new. What ever color the old piece of junk had once been painted left no trace now. In may places, rust had made its way through the bug infested car. It was quite a surprise the elderly thing could still move, considering the state it was in now. As Amber threw her stuff in the back, she heard the deafening sound of the engine coming to life. As Amber climbed it the passenger seat, the car shifted under the weight of the not-so-heavy passengers. For a second the car began to idle but quickly fell out of it as soon as it had started

About seven minutes after they had been able to manoeuvre the piece of junk out of the parking lot due to the intense Friday traffic. With the radio tuned to a good station, the ride took on a calming feel. Passing long orchards and fields relaxed Amber until the car began to slow down and turn to the side of the rode. The more than 30 year old car had finally given its last ride to these unlucky passengers, now stuck* in the middle of miles and miles of corn fields.

"What are we gonna do now," Amber asked frantically with a hint of anger in her voice.

"That's easy, we call a tow truck while I try to do the best I can as a kid who's only lessons took place in my garage with my father," Andrew answered coolly.

"You do that, I'll go and try to wave down any passing vehicles," Amber added with sarcasm.

Not three minutes later, Amber noticed a black dot on the horizon, no sooner had she noticed this did she realize that the little black dot was actually a small group of little black cars. Immediately she jumped out in the middle of the road and began wildly waving her arms around while jumping up and down and screaming "Help!" at the top of her lungs. Every single one of the cars slowed down and came to a stop on the side of the road. From the nearest car emerged two men. Each were dressed in black suites. As soon as the men began walking towards them, an image flashed through her mind. She saw nothing but pitch black darkness. She began blinking her eyes as the image stuck itself into her mind. Just thinking about it sent a chill up her spine. Andrew walked from the open hood to her side. His hands were slick with oil grease, but as soon as she noticed that he wiped them off on his worn out old jeans. With a smile, he walked up to the men, held out his hand and said, "We're so glad you're here, I was driving and..." but Andrew trailed off as the man whom he held out his hand to ignored it completely. "Ummm," he tried to continue, "do you think you can help us or something? My phone is dead and she doesn't have one." Yet both men continued to completely pretend he was not there. Stunned by this act of behavior, both teenagers just stood where they were and watched the men in black bend over, unlocked their suitcases, and began pulling hand cuffs from them. "Amber, I think we need to run," Andrew whispered in her ear. She nodded her head in agreement and bolted from the odd men. No sooner had they tried to escape, did the men grab them by the neck of their shirts. Quickly, as if it were a well practiced move, did the men grab their hands and cuff them behind their backs. "You can't do this, it's against the law, you're gonna go to prison for this," Andrew shouted. At this both of the men gave a short laugh. Amber just stood their with her hands behind her back, paralyzed by the event happening right in front of her eyes. As a little girl she always thought that if this would ever happen to her, whe'd be able to kick all of the bad guys' butt and make it to safely, but what was happening now just froze her in her tracks. The men then walked the teens to the back of their car, and threw them in the trunk. Amber heard them lock the trunk and snicker as they climbed into the front seats of the car. In no time, the car was moving.
