Water is soothing to me.
I was born in water, my mother having collapsed at the edge of a shallow pond whilst in labor. Therefore, it did not bother me at all to swim across a magnificently humongous lake in all my black-furred glory. I could easily fly over it, but this is my journey, my choice.
No longer will I blindly obey to avoid their anger.
I pull myself out on the opposite shore with ease, shaking the droplets from my coat before taking a few steps into the awaiting forest. A presence at the edge of my perception flares, bidding my gaze towards it. Some distance from me, the familiarly unfamiliar sight makes me tense. A dog demon, golden eyes impassive, silvery hair long and pure. He stares at me as I stare back. I don't know what he wants, and he gives no indication of anything.
Ah. This must be Sesshomaru, Lord of the West. First son to the beast I seek, in life or death. A powerful force.
Then again, all dog demons are powerful forces compared to I.
A small imp, green in color and bearing a two-headed staff, steps forward from behind the other. It regards me in a crude way, brandishing the staff towards me.
"How dare you act so disrespectfully in the presence of Lord Sesshomaru!"
I blink, returning my gaze to Sesshomaru without a word. An imp is of no consequence to myself. My business here, if at all business, is with Sesshomaru. He does not react, continuing to watch me with the same expressionless gaze.
What does he want?
"Your coat begs of impurity, yet you are pure born."
"Have you come solely to state things I am already aware of? Or is there some other business you have with me, Lord of the West?"
Silence again. The imp continues to berate me for my 'impudence'. I'm of half a mind to squish it. I look down at it, narrowing my eyes. It skitters to hide behind Sesshomaru, but continues to grumble and lecture. Determined thing.
"Why do you come to these lands?"
"I was searching for something I cannot find in this world. Now I wander."
"Go home."
"And where would that be?"
His eyes narrow at me, but his answer is clear. He cares little for what I do, but he has claimed these lands and will fight to keep them. I have no interest in the land. He turns with a silent swish of silver hair, walking away with a stride that screams of pride and power. I continue into the woods, ignoring the confusion of the little green imp. It is not my business to ask of him where he goes.
Nor do I even care to know. I will simply wander and exist. I know that my father's defiler has passed after seeing both of his sons wielding those swords. Tessaiga, reeking of blood, Tenseiga, reeking of death. I hate anything to do with Inutaisho, but I must move on. Perhaps I will someday cross the sea to the unknown...
For now, I simply wander.

A strange smell. The dark one smelled of the northeast, of the plum blossoms surrounding that foolish village. Father had a friend there, though I don't care to know of him now. The strange smell had my attention.
It wasn't the dark one, with its soft scent and light footsteps. It was something else. Something that seemed to follow closely behind, always just out of reach. The smell is similar to iron and ash. Something is hunting the dark one. I don't know his name, the dark one. I have let him into my territory, so now his follower is my business. If they are powerful, I will defeat them, and my lands will remain my own.
But my curiosity has made me turn back. I want to know about about this pure-blooded demon, who entered my lands without so much as a backward glance. This dog demon is going, but will never return to where I came from.
To me, Sesshomaru, this is a matter worth my time.
