Gifts of the heart:
(Listen to the song "I Will" - Ao Haru Ride OST)
Seichi has been friends with Kaori ever since 1st year junior high and Seichi gives Kaori presents at random just for fun. But on their senior high Seichi is plagued by a rare sickness. The doctor said that he will only have 2 years to live.
Now on their second year Kaori starts getting suspicious about Seichi. Seichi gives her more presents than he used to every single day. This time Kaori was determined to make Seichi answer as to why he gives her presents.
An opportunity arises when Kaori corners Seichi and when she asked, Seichi only smiled and said "because I want to be remembered by you." Kaori didn't understand so she just hit him playfully and said "I would never forget you...idiot!" And the days progressed on like normal.
One time Seichi was out shopping for gifts as usual when he suddenly collapses. His surroundings started to blur and he couldn't help but cry...it was starting...it was happening...he had to leave her behind.
Unfortunately Takuma his classmate saw him collapse and helped him. He wasn't very close to Takuma since Takuma wasn't very social but that worked to his advantage. He explained to Takuma what he was doing and what was happening to him. Takuma was shocked he felt...sorry towards Seichi but Seichi told him not to because he was prepared for it.
Ever since then Takuma and Seichi met up a couple of times and talked to each other, soon they too became friends. One time Seichi became serious and told Takuma something from the bottom of his heart "hey...Takuma...I want you to do something for me...when I disappear." At his words Takuma stopped walking and looked at Seichi in worry. "I want you...to guide Kaori to my presents." He smiled. After that he and Takuma became distant.
Seichi thought it was for the better aswell since he wouldn't be around much longer. Then he noticed something about Kaori, he noticed that his friends tend to push her towards him more and that Kaori blushed everytime he's near. But everytime he notices it he is conflicted by two different emotions. One he is happy that somehow there is a little hope that Kaori actually likes him and two...his heart is split apart because he knows he has got to leave her behind.
It tore him up knowing the truth. His sickness had no cure and very soon he was gonna have to tell his group of friends, except Kaori. Months have passed and the giving of gifts did not stop. Usually his gifts would consist of accessories and clothes that girls his age would love but then it hit him...what would he give her the day of his death. Something small about pocket size or something she could wear where everytime Kaori looks at it she'll remember him.
It then came to him what gift he needed and he proceeded to work. Days passed and Kaori was yet again getting suspicious, she was sure that she was doing the right thing to get her feelings through Seichi but somehow Seichi seemed to brush it off. What was she supposed to do. Kaori then made up her mind...she was going to confess.
She told the group about her plan and they all supported her. She cornered Seichi by the rooftop and told him her real feelings;
"Seichi...for a long time...I have always...I have always been. I-I like you! I see you more than just a friend! I don't know if you've noticed my moves on you and all that...but since you weren't reacting I thought I should just tell you head on and...well...I like you! Ever since junior high...on our second year the day you gave me this bracelet I felt happy to receive something so precious from someone who is incredible! You're smile lights up the room, you're refreshing aura makes it easy to talk to you, you're an average person who doesn't judge anyone and stands up for others! You're dreams of the future never seize to inspire me everyday to keep moving and aim high!...I-it's okay. You don't need to answer me now. Just know that I will always be waiting for your reply"
