I lay on my bed in my boxers and hoodie, doing my art homework.

"Zane honey! Your friend is here!" My mother yelled from downstairs.

I sat up and leaned over the banister in the hallway, "who?" I asked.

"Layne Savannah," she said, "I'll send him up."

"I'm doing homework, I don't have time!" I frowned.

"Hang out with him!" She yelled.

Layne walked up the stairs, "I came to talk to you," he said.

"Go away," I said. I walked back into my room and sat down on my bed.

"I'm not going to hurt you while you're at home," he said, "I'm not that much of a beast."

"You know, you're lucky I haven't told my mum about it," i frowned.

"Why haven't you?" He asked and sat next to me.

"How long are you going to be here?" I sighed.

"Let me ask you something," he said.

"What?" I asked.

"If you haven't told your mum about me bullying you then why do you openly show your bruises?" He asked.

"The bruises weren't from you," I sighed.

"Honey!" Mother called.

"Yes?" I replied.

"Can you go and fetch Heidi?" She asked, "she should be outside."

"Stay here," I said and put my shoes on.

"Okay," he shrugged.

I rolled my eyes and left the house.

"Heidi!" I called. I saw Heidi run into the park. "Shit!" I ran off.

~time skip~

I was still in the park. I haven't found Heidi.

I stopped running to catch my breath. It started to rain.

"Zane!" Someone called. I turned around and saw Layne.

"What do you want now?" I sighed.

"I noticed it was raining," he said with a smile.

"Is Heidi at home?" I asked.

"She just came back," he said, "I told your mum I'd come get you."

"Go home already," I said, "do you have any idea how difficult it is for me to be near you after what you did?"

He walked up to me and was an inch away from my face. I flinched when he moved his hands towards me.

I realised he took his jacket off and put it over me.

"I don't want you to catch a cold," he said, "otherwise I wouldn't be able to hurt you."

I sneezed and said, "fuck off."

He rested his arms on my head, "your mums asked me to stay over."

"What? Not happening!" I frowned. I started sneezing again.

"Let's take you home before you sneeze yourself to death," he said.

-back home-

"I'm going for a shower," I said.

"Good, I don't want you to catch a cold," mother smiled, "Layne you can use the spare room's bathroom to clean yourself up."

"Thank you so much Mrs Josiah," he smiled at her.

"Call me Sarah," mother replied.

"Mum!" I yelled.

"Heidi! Come here!" She walked off after I yelled.

Layne walked up the stairs.

"The spare room is here," I tapped on the door behind me.

He put his hands on the door and blocked me in, "which one of my mates beat you up?" He asked.

"I don't know," I frowned, "it's not like I ask for peoples names after they beat me up."

He heaved a heavy sigh and pushed me further into the door.

"Can I go for my shower now?" I asked.

He tilted his head slightly to the left and kissed me.

"W-what are you doing?" I asked when he stopped.

"This won't change anything at school," he said and kissed me again.

He grabbed my hands and wrapped my arms around his neck.

He lifted me up and looked up at me, "stop.." I begged.

"I'll leave you alone if you have a shower with me," he put me down.

"No way!" I pushed him away, "you're an asshole!" I walked towards my room.

He grabbed my hand, "who else beats you up?" He asked.

"That's not your business!" I frowned.

"I've decided," he said, "you're having a shower with me so we can talk." He pulled me into the spare room.
