Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day

The sun shone down

Each ray helping the waters refract

So beautifully it did

That was a fact

The pollen glided through the airs

As if without a care

It looked as if there was snow

But there were no clouds that showed

No cold temperature to cause water droplets to freeze

Because it was the opposite, in fact

Only a warm breeze was here presently

Making the trees sway softly with every gust

You sat with me

Under the greenery

Saying sweet words

Making me blush

Playing your uke

Next to the bridge

In our town of Dubuque

Our picnic had been ruined hadn’t it?

A trail of ants decided

It was theirs to consume

They must have been delighted

Though, it was to our gloom

We laughed anyways

Ants carrying away our feast,

Was a bit funny,

To say the least,

So we stayed sat

Our hearts content

From the happening we’d been laughing at

That’s when you got down on one knee and said

“Georgia, will you marry me?”
