As I shut the door to my home after being dropped off by Aaron, I noticed how silent the house was. Mom must be at work. She works at an elderly home across town. She had to work basically all day to support us, because my father passed a few years back from cancer. She works to twelve in the morning at times and if she could do extra to bring in more money she would. By the time she gets home she's too tired to do anything and it's late so she goes straight to sleep. I feel guilty at times because she has to work so much. I even asked if I could get a job to help out, but she refuses, saying that I should pay more attention to school. That's what I love about my mom. She thinks of others before herself. I wish to be like her when I'm older. My mom is quite short around five feet even. She's a bit plump and she has brown eyes and short brown hair. I have often questioned her if I was even her daughter because we don't resemble much. Eventually she got tired of me asking and just to prove that she was infact my mother she got our blood tested.
Sure enough she was true to her word.
I heard the door open as I reach the stairs. Freaking out, I turned quickly towards the door only to notice my mom with a bag full of groceries in her hands.
"Hey, mom. Why aren't you at work?", I asked walking to her and taking the bag out of her hand.
"Hey,Hun. I took a day off so that I could sleep in and spend some time with you.", she smiled as she shut the door and followed me to the kitchen to help me put the groceries away. I put the groceries on the table and pulled out the first item. Nutella, God's gift to his creation of humans. I can't go a day without Nutella , so I was glad she had gotten more.
"That's great! I actually have something to ask you.", I said nervously as I put the rest of what was left in the grocery bag away, excluding the Nutella of course.
"Can I pretty, pretty please? With a cherry on top, go to a party with this guy named Aaron on Friday?", speaking fast, but not so fast to where she couldn't understand me. She looked shell shocked. I could understand why saying I mostly trapped myself up in my room all day and now I wanted to go to a party with a guy. It took her about a second before she fully recovers.
"Uh, sure. You're seventeen now Terri. You can make your own decisions. Just be careful and easy on drinking I know how parties work. I was young at some point in life.", She smirks.
"You're still young mom your barely forty. And I don't drink.", I laughed.
"Forty going on fifty.",She kids. "Who is this Aaron guy? Tell me about him."
"Actually mom you hear about him quite often.", I smiled.
"The guy who you say has the perfect smile?", she smirked as I shied away. "Well it was about damn time!"
"Mom, watch your language!" I joked. My mom cussed like a sailor. It's funny at times, but it can also be quite embarrassing. For example, one time my mom took me to the bar with her. We went to the bar so that she could watch an Eagles game against the Cowboys. Her love of football gets a bit out of hand though. When she watches the 'Eagles' play it's like she's a member of the team. In other words she got really into the game. So into it in fact she starts screaming all types of curse words at the T.V as if the other team can hear her derogatory insults. I was so embarrassed I stayed in the very unkept restroom until the game was over.
"What? The kid took forever to ask you out. So how did he ask you?" She said acting like a teenager waiting to hear the gossip. I skip a few minor details of how he came along to asking me out, like the fact that I fainted, the fact I was in the nurse office all day because of him and the fact he was a jerk to me at first. I was still wondering about his change of heart myself.
