Entry Eighteen...

I was greeted by the familiar smell of vanilla as always. Spongebob Squarepants was playing on the television and we happened to have a guest today.

The Sams have picked their play date to be at my household today. Samantha had her beautiful hair in two regular braids with black ribbons at each end. She would have looked like a younger version of Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland' if it weren't for the fact that she was wearing matching onesies with Samuel.

I had gotten them matching onesies for their birthdays last year which happens to be in the same month, July. They're not just ordinary onesies. Nooo. Calling them ordinary is just an insult. Well, to me because I had them specially customised.

Samantha's onesie was peach in colour and had glittery angel wings at the back and floral details etched onto the hood (yes, there is a hood and it looks like a flower crown). Samuel on the other hand, had gotten a maroon onesie with black angel wings at the back and swirly details on the hood.

Now, you must be thinking how in any way, are they matching. They are colour coordinated but the best part are the words sewn onto them, 'Sam's Angel'. Sam and Sam, the perfect combination. The nickname I came up for them just wasn't enough. You can't blame me for my matchmaker instincts though. I'm just an innocent older sister looking out for her younger brother.

Dad was in the living room reading news articles on his laptop instead of his usual routine which consisted of napping. I went to kiss him on the cheek. "Hi dad!"

Dad looked up from his laptop and perched his reading glasses up. "Hey kiddo, how was school?"

Not so great because of a certain someone. "It was fine, the usual," I shrugged nonchalantly. He simply nodded and resumed his reading.

I walked over to Sam and ruffled his hair. "Hey Sam!" I got an annoyed pout as a response. "Hello Sam! It's been some time since you came here," I then said to Samantha whose eyes were glued to the television screen. She then exclaimed, "Hello Sera! Well, my parents are on a date so they said that I could have a sleepover party here!"

I'm pretty sure her parents aren't just going on a date. Why do I have a feeling that it had something to do with the act of reproduction? "Hey mum, Sam's staying for the night?" I walked to the kitchen and looked to mum for reply.

"Mmm. Yeah, she is. Her parents are supposedly out on a date but in actual fact, they're trying for another baby!" She whispered excitedly. I rolled my eyes. Typical mum. Always getting excited over things like this. But my instinct was right.

"Come down in fifteen minutes sweetheart. I'm going to prepare the table," said mum.

I took that as my cue to leave. I plopped on my bed as soon as I stepped foot into my room. It had been a really exhausting day and so many things were tangled in my mind. It was just too much!

I recalled the events of the day. Ryder acting nonchalant about doing the deed with Jessica, having a secret girlfriend (or possibly ex-girlfriend) and most of all, betting on my heart. That actually stabbed me pretty hard.

Am I such a pushover for being too kind? Am I such an easy person to manipulate? I really don't understand the likes of how Ryder's mind works. Besides, he is just a friend. A good friend. I shouldn't judge him for I'm pretty sure something happened to him to have made him this way. In a way, I feel pity for him.

But betting on me? That's unacceptable. Even for a friend. I noted down the events that took place today in my diary. One should never forget an incident like this.

I sighed. Why me of all people? I continued wondering until mum called me for dinner.
