***Connor's POV***
As I waited for Ronnie to get Ross and Lau, I thought about what happened earlier. Is she finally accepting the fact that I really like her? Does she really like me, or is she just settling? There were so many questions going through my mind, making me nervous.
My heart started beating even faster when I saw her walking out of the restaurant with Ross and Lau trailing behind her. Lauren was beaming; I guess she had fun with Ross.
Weird.
The ride home was silent, except for the occasional giggle from Lauren in the backseat. It was a comfortable silence. Not awkward or anything.
When we got to Ronnie's house, I pulled into her driveway and looked over at her as she stayed stationary.
"This one's your stop," I said with a smile.
She smiled back at me, her eyes twinkling in the dim moonlight.
"Yeah, I know that," She said and rolled her eyes.
Lauren had already gotten out of the car and she was waiting for Ronnie. What was I supposed to do? If I kissed her right now in front of Ross, she would probably freak out. Should I get out of the car? That would be stupid.
My thoughts were interrupted as Veronica leaned over and planted a soft kiss on my cheek.
"Goodnight," She said, and slowly made her way out of the car.
"So, what happened?" Me and Ross both said in unison, then gave each other a weird look.
"You first," He demanded.
I sighed and thought about how to explain this to him in the fewest possible words.
"Well, she's finally starting to accept the fact that I like her.. and that she likes me too. What about you?" I asked him.
"It's really strange, man," Ross said. "I think I really like this girl. I get this weird feeling when I talk to her, not like when I talk to everyone else, so I made a move."
"What did you do?" I asked.
***Ronnie's POV***
"He what?" I squealed at Lau, both of us sitting on my bed and recapping what happened tonight.
It turns out that both of our nights were pretty great, which made me ecstatic.
"He told me that I was really interesting to him," She said.
"And?" I pressed for more information.
"Then he asked me to homecoming!" She practically screamed.
We both basically started freaking out. I was so happy for her, but I was also really scared.
Ross was kind of a douchebag. He didn't exactly have that great of a reputation if you know what I mean. I just didn't want Lau to turn into "one of his exes".
"What is all of this screaming about?" Jake asked, bursting through my bedroom door without knocking.
"Jacob!" Lauren said, and then ran and hugged him.
She had known him ever since she was a baby. That, and she was kind of on a happiness high so she was extra excited to see him too.
"Lauren's going to homecoming!" I screamed.
"Congrats Lau!" Jake looked down at her, then switched his glance to me. "What about you? Are you going?"
I blushed and looked down. I still hadn’t talked to him at all about Connor.
"I don't think that I'm going. I don't really want to go," I said.
"Oh yeah! I totally forgot, Ronnie! What happened with you and Connor tonight?" Lauren said a little too loudly.
"What do you mean what happened between you and Connor?" Jake said, surprised.
Oh, no. I wanted this to be a happy night.
"Something happened with Connor?" Tim popped his head in.
Not him too.
"Ronnie has a boyfriend? Ooo kill 'em girl. Up top!" Alexa said as she ran into the room and then held her hand up for a high-five.
I left her hanging, and sat there stunned at the amount of commotion Lauren had caused.
"Thanks Lau," I said, glaring at her, trying really hard to stop blushing.
I looked at all of the faces around me. Lauren just looked crazy happy, Jake looked really curious, Alexa looked like she could care less, and Tim looked very concerned, maybe even a little mad.
"Well, what happened?" Jake asked, breaking the silence.
"Look, you guys, I really appreciate the interest and all, but I don't want to just tell everyone," I looked around at everyone.
This was kind of my business, and all of them had a habit of getting into it too much.
"Well we are going to have a talk later whether you like it or not," Tim said, then walked away.
"You can tell me what happened whenever you want Ronnie. No rush, me and Alexa are gonna go.. uh," Jake trailed off, sparing me the details.
"There is definitely a rush for me, Veronica. I need to know. Like now," Lauren gave me a super-serious look.
I made sure that everyone had left my room and then shut the door behind me.
"Well, he took me to the dock, then we talked for a little bit. Then he kissed me. And I didn't run away or anything. And then we talked a little more and he told me that he really liked me.. and then I kissed him. And it actually felt really good. I barely even freaked out at all! Then we just came back and got you and Ross. That's pretty much it I guess," I said quickly.
I left out a few of the details, but that basically summed up my night.
"I'm so happy for you Ronnie. I'm really glad that this is finally working out with you two. But you absolutely need to go to homecoming! We could get ready together and everything!" She said, still very excited.
"Calm down, Lau," I replied, laughing. "It's not for another two weeks."
