•Rose's POV•I arrive at Aroura's house and I see her and Jack in the back yard smoking and Jack was getting some weed ready for someone. Surprisingly no beer or liquor in their hands or around them.
"Aye Rose what's good?" Jack asks me as I close the back door.
"Um nothin much, you?" I say turning my head around to look at him.
"I'm great, working a lot lately. " he sips on his water bottle and continues to roll.
"oh nice, can I talk to you Aroura, like can we go for a quick walk?" I need to tell her..at least that I'll be gone for a little while. She doesn't need to know anything else.
"Yeah let me put out this cigarette and get a water, do you want anything?" She pulls down her shorts a little and goes up the stairs halfway looking back at me for an answer.
"nah I'm good, thanks." I sit on the chair close to the stairs and jack's across from me.
"So Rose, want me to hook you up with JJ or Sam?" A smirk plastered on his face, trying to be slick.
"No G, I told you, I don't want a boyfriend right now. I have too much shit going on lately." This is the fifth time easily I have to tell Jack that I don't want to date anyone. I know both JJ and Sam well, we're friends, not that close but we're cool.
"C'mon Rose, you're almost eighteen for Christ's sake. Don't you wanna live a little?" He asks putting out his cig looking at my dark brown eyes with his.
"Look G, I know you mean well and I appreciate it. But I really don't want to date. Maybe when I get settled and stuff I will 'live a little'. Besides, JJ and Sam are friends, I can't date them. I had my share of men. " I used my fingers to make air quotes.
"Alright fine, you know I'm here to hook you up or even just for anything." He puts out his hand and we do our quick hand shake. He smiles and walks into the basement as Aroura comes down the stairs.
"All ready?" She throws her aviator sunglasses on. I nod and stand up, walking to the back door.
"So what's going on Rose...you usually don't ask for us to leave if you need to talk." She glances at me, her eye brows furrowed slightly.
"Well I'm going for a getaway tonight. I'll be back soon but I just wanted you to know. Plus if anything happens to me I want you to know that I left for a small road trip and all." I shrug trying to not make it sound like a big deal.
"Oh, well you'll be back soon right? And you're not going too far?" She asks sounding concerned.
"Yeah I'm not going far, I'll be back soon. It'll be fine." I wave my hand trying to calm her. She worries about me like she's my older sister.
"Okay, just be careful." She sighs.
"I'll be perfectly okay Aroura, I swear." I try to calm her down and I think it works this time.
"Alright, alright, I believe you." She puts her hands up in defeat. We turn at the corner to go to the park for a bit.
"So, are you and G going to get a dog or what?!" I exclaim smiling and she laughs.
"I think so, I really want a German Shepard. They're so gorgeous and smart. Plus they're amazing with kids." She wiggles her eyebrows and it makes me think of their future kids. They'd be adorable, but not yet.
"I hope you guys get a dog, you need it. To protect you when he's gone you know? And don't you even think of kids missy. You're too young still!" I scold her like a concerned parent and she laughs pushing me so I lose my balance a little.
"Okay mom chill." She laughs even more.
We have small talk the whole way back home. Once we reach the door we hear a lot of noise. This can't be good.
"You open it!" I whisper yell at Aroura. My stomach is doing flips of nervousness, of suspense.
"Fine! It's probably just Sammy anyways!" She whispered back at me, rolling her ice blue eyes.
She slowly opens her back gate and I cringe closing my left eye tight and keeping my right one wide open to see what lied in front of us.
"You were right, Aroura." Sammy yells in our face with a smile plastered on his face.
"GOD DAMN YOU SAMUEL!" I jump and hold my heart as if it were about to fall out of my chest, my eyes wide open from the terror put in my system.
"Awe shit, I'm sorry Rose" he hugs me and laughs like he just watched the funniest movie on earth.
"That's not funny you idiot" I wrap my arms around him and squeeze the actual shit out of him.
"FUCK ROSE!" He yelps trying to wiggle out of my grip and I laugh this time.
"Sorry" I say innocently letting go of him, pushing my straight brown hair over my shoulder.
"Mhm" he mumbles. "What kind of juice are you on anyways?" he looks at me seriously.
"My mother does the shopping." I say quoting my favourite show ever. TEEN WOLF.
"GOOD ONE ROSE!!!" i hear Aroura yell from the garage.
I bust out laughing and pat Sam on the back, "Sorry buddy, that needed to be said."
"You're crazy, Rose." Sam shakes his had and smiles widely.
"Well thank you, fart face" I giggle and get up from the chair i had sat in.
"Well, excuse me everyone, i have some things to do before i leave tonight." i grab a water bottle for the road and walk over to the garage door to sat goodbye to Aroura and Jack.
"bye guys, love you, take care." i hug both of them and exit, walking over to my car.
"i love you rose, be safe." Aroura yells, I get an odd feeling in the pit of my stomach. Regret.
I'll miss them, a lot.
Just a few hours, and I'll have a new start. A whole new life. I'm glad I'll have Sierra with me through it all. She'll keep me sane, she always has.
I close my door, turn on the ignition, and put my foot on the gas.
"I'm sorry" leaves my lips before I realize it, I shake my head and leave the house I once called my true home, where my best friend lived.
