"What they didn't realize was... The homework had just begun." Gerald said in his 'storytelling voice' (which sounds exactly like what you'd expect a middle schooler telling a scary story to sound like), finishing off his homework horror story.
"I have to admit, that was probably one of your best. Though, considering who you are, that's not much of a compliment."
"Wow, thanks, Vi."
"No problem. So, it's my turn, what are you giving me?" We had started a game where we would give each other the weirdest topics to make scary stories about; Gerald claimed it was good practice for solving our E.E.R.I.E cases, I knew it was just because we were the only company we had after school and we neither of us wanted to hang up the phone.
"Um, how about... Erasers."
"Ooh, that's a good one. Ok, so it all started when Melissa bought a brand new eraser, just a standard pink one, nothing fancy. Well, one day as she was taking a math test she put her pencil down because she was finished. She just sat back and read a book, peering at the clock every now and then to check the time. When the bell finally rang, meaning the period was over and it was time to hand the tests in, she looked at her paper, but it was completely blank. All the answers she had written and was quite positive she had gotten correct, gone, with no discernible explanation. She slowly approached the teacher's desk, knowing this wasn't going to end well. The best thing she knew to do was tell the truth, as crazy as it sounded. Naturally and unsurprisingly, the teacher didn't believe her, telling Melissa that she would be getting an F for trying to pull off the stunt. Well, since Melissa was feeling rather pissed off because of what had happened, she decided to do some drawing, a hobby that always calmed her down. She sat outside at lunch, next to her best friend Jamie, and just drew without a care in the world. When she was done, Jamie looked at the magnificent drawing and told Melissa it was the most beautiful thing she's ever seen and that she should enter it into the school's art show. Melissa thought this was a fantastic idea, but as she looked back down at her paper... It was blank. Furiously, she studied the paper, finding eraser dust all over it. Well this made her freak out, ripping the paper to shreds and throwing the eraser out into the field. As Jamie started to question her on her sudden burst of anger, the eraser flew back at Melissa and erased her entire face. The end."
"Impressive." He approved, I could practically hear him nodding. "You've got quite a knack for story telling, Violet."
"Wish I could say the same for you." I joked. I looked over at my clock and was shocked to see what time it was. "Gerald, do you realize that's it eleven o'clock at night?"
"What, is it passed your bedtime?" He questioned, getting me back for what I had said just a few days ago.
"No, not at all, just thought it was past yours." I replied cooly, covering my butt. It was late and a school night, but I didn't care, Gerald and I could and would be talking for hours to come.
