"Hey Jack, how was your summer?"
"Oh, it was fine. The usual, you know?" I tell Mrs. Mendez, our Spanish teacher, as she lets out a small laugh while nodding in agreement. I've known her all my life considering she and my mother have been close friends since their high school years. She's also probably one of the coolest teachers in the school.
"Well it's good to hear that. You can take a seat wherever since it seems we won't have as many people taking AP Spanish this year. Only about seven students so far." She says while motioning to the mostly empty classroom with the exception of the few students spread around, talking amongst themselves.I notice a few of the people in the class, two being my best friends, Esme and Levi. I begin to walk towards them and the first thing I see is wild hand gestures and Levi frowning.
"How can you even say such a thing. We all know blossom was the most badass of the powerpuff girls. She shot lasers out of her eyes for crying out loud!" He says while doing weird gestures with his hands, which I'm guessing is his way of shooting lasers.
"If you think about it, Bubbles was actually the most badass considering she was the kindest, and you know what they say about they say about the kind ones. The kinder they are, the more brutal and vicious they can be." I say while sitting between the two. Their faces instantly light up like they usually do whenever I leave with my family for the summer. We've all been together since the third grade when we went on a class camping trip and Levi and I were cabin buddies whereas Esme saved us from almost touching Poison Ivy. Ever since then we've been inseparable.
"Jack! You're back! Ew, that rhymed...but yay, you've returned to us!" Levi says while hugging the life out of me.
"Yes, I'm here, but I won't be for long. You're kinda killing me here." I tell him as he finally lets me go. I look over at Esme to see why she's so silent, but she's just sitting there grinning at me. It's getting weird because she never smiles at someone for so long and what she does next surprises me even more. She pulls me into a tight embrace.
Now don't get me wrong, the hug's great and all, but Esme hates physical contact. Which is exactly why something's definitely wrong with her.
"Hey Esme, what's up? You're kinda creeping me out right now." I whisper to her as she shushes me.
"Don't look over, but he's in her and he's watching us right now." She says as I feel chills run up my spine. Instinctively I look over toward the direction that Esme nodded to and as our eyes meet he smirks at me.
Why is he in here? Last time I checked he moved away or something, and when did he ever become an AP Spanish student? He didn't even pass Spanish 1. But whatever the reason, I don't like it. Wherever he goes, trouble follows.
