My name is Fennec Mooncrest, I am a fox. I wake up to my alarm clock ringing loudly. I moan; the thought of getting out of bed made me feel miserable. I drag myself out of bed to put on clothes and brush my teeth. I brush my fur and fix my hair to look presentable. I trot down the stairs and enter the kitchen where my twin brother greets me. We sit down and enjoy some Chex cereal. That's when karma hits us, for all the bad things we have done. The siren from the nuclear power plant sounded unexpectedly making me choke on some cereal.
"Fennec, you okay?", Akiko, my twin, asks.
"Yeah," I reply while coughing.
"I don't like how they test the sirens this early in the morning, it's so annoying and unexpected"
We live in New Leaf, a small town in South France. The town has two nuclear plants that power New Leaf and neighboring cities. They test the disaster sirens every Wednesday morning to make sure they still work or else the whole town and many towns near here would get filled with toxic radiation, and no one would be able to evacuate in time. Every one is used to it, but there is one problem, it wasn't Wednesday.
We hear an explosion not that far away, causing a chain reaction blowing up our house along with our neighbors. The blast shot us into the street, Akiko lays unconscious as I watch our house burn and hear the blood curdling scream of our family. :(
