The rest of the day dragged on. Teagen thought long and carefully about the choice she had to make. She even came up with different scenarios that could possibly happen if she chose one way. Teagen could see Mr. Gallows' building which spiraled into the clouds. Even though it rose to the heavens, that building was hell.
Teagen left the balcony and exited her room. Her small townhouse seemed empty. No one left their room and her mother was in the kitchen reading on the Holopro. Her father hadn't left the basement either. Teagen looked at the digital clock on the wall. It was 6:30. She went into the kitchen. Her mother didn't even bother to lift her head from her reading.
Teagen took a protein bar from the cabinet. She didn't feel like eating much with the worrisome weight of her decision making her a bit sick. She unwrapped the clear plastic and bit into the chocolate and walnut bar. Teagen returned to the living room and sat down. She finished her bar. She knew that her family would leave their territories eventually and scavenge for random food in the fridge for dinner.
An hour of tv watching passed the time. Looking out the window, Teagen saw the glowing orange sky. It was sunset. Her decision making had come to a conclusion. Teagen knew what path to chose. It might be a crazy decision, but she was sure of it.
Teagen picked up the headset and pressed the touchscreen numbers to call Mr. Gallows. Her hands shook with each number.
349-666-1828
"Hello, this is Lenore of Gallows Industries. How may I help you?"
"Th-this is Teagen."
"Yes, I know. I ask that every time I pick up the phone. I will transfer you to Mr. Gallows."
There was a pause, then the sound of breathing came on.
"Ah, Teagen. Have you made your decision?" he asked.
"Yes I have." she said confidently.
"I have decided to come with you to make more androids like me."
"Excellent. Lenore will be at your door tomorrow to bring you here. If you plan to escape, just know that Lenore may seem like an ordinary receptionist, but she can put up a good fight."
"I will not escape." Teagen said.
"It is settled then. I shall see you tomorrow. Goodbye." he said.
Teagen hung up the headset and ended the call. Her family headed to the kitchen to scavenge as Teagen predicted. She heard her family speaking lowly in the kitchen. She heard stray words such as "your sister", "android", and " don't worry."
Teagen knew that her parents were explaining her not being human to Naru and Lore. They then finished their dinner and conversation. Lore and Naru left the kitchen. They smiled at her, but Teagen knew that behind that smile, they were scared. Scared of their own sister. Well not even their sister. A machine.
