Chapter 1

It was a pretty good day today. Mrs. Faylor had decided that we would go have class outside due to good behavior, and how it was such great weather. It was nice and cool, but not too cool that we couldn't wear shorts and a tank top. I leaned against my backpack, and could feel my change of clothes in my black backpack as I tried to use it as a pillow. I found it crazy that my mom made me bring three changes of clothes a day for the different kind of weather. However great the weather was, something felt off. There were way too many students walking around then the allowed time. I noticed I haven't seen a bunch of the kids walking around either. One kid even nodded to a quiet kid named Billy. Billy nodded back. 'Strange...' I thought and returned to my book. 'Back in 2011 there were no laws against minors being harmed. Children today live a safer life than those of the past. It was proven that...' I jumped up as Billy yelled. "What the?" I said out loud and watched closer.

"What do you think you're doing Billy?" Mrs. Faylor yelled backing up. Billy didn't answer as he swung a punch-kick combo. I didn't stand around to watch and I ran diagonal to the office. I turned, as I heard more feet pounding after me. I gasped. All of the kids walking around and in my class had swarmed around the teachers. Three kids were chasing me. I recognized two, and I think they were Dalton Holier and Marcie Fount. I swiveled back around and kept on running towards the office. I yanked open the doors and ran in. Nobody was there! I kept on running, dodging attempts to grab my legs. I charged through hallways that students weren’t allowed in. I almost yelled in relief as a door was at the end of this hallway. I didn't stop as I ran into the door. It swung open, and I found myself at the back of the school. I leapt on top of a dumpster and climbed to the roof. I looked down, breathing hard, as my three pursuers broke out of the hallway. They looked around, and Dalton yelled at the kid I didn't know. They stood around to catch their breath. Soon, they walked single file back into the hallway. I didn't let out my held breath until the door slammed shut, and they were gone.

I shrugged my backpack off my back and looked through it. The only thing that was required for school was a medium sized binder. I took that out, and chucked it into the dumpster that I had climbed up on. The only things left in my backpack were my laptop, my personal notebook, my cell phone, and my three changes of clothes. I decided that I would need batteries in both of my electronics, so I quickly turned both off. Next I knew that I had to change. They would be looking for a bright green and pink dressed girl, so I chose the farthest from it. I pulled out black leggings, a long sleeved shirt, and a black hat. I quickly changed, and put everything neatly back into the backpack. Wanting to figure out a plan, I took the notebook out of my back pack, along with a pencil. I brain stormed ways to get out. This after a few minutes I knew there was no way out of the 100 miles of woods around the school, and the high wall around even before that.  Not to mention the fact I'm probably on the New Rebellion or whatever's hit list. If I couldn't escape, I needed three things. I needed food/water, weapons, and a place to hide. I decide to get the weapons first. Figuring, the Rebels would want them. I dropped my notebook in and zipped it up. Peering over the edge, I checked to make sure that no one was waiting to ambush me.

Once I was sure no one was there, I slithered down the wall. I thought of places where a weapon would be... General's office! I streaked across the open ground, and back through the door. Now that I wasn't running for my life in blind panic, I could get a small trace of where I was. I slipped down a few hallways and I was soon in front of the office. I opened it slowly, half expecting an ambush from some kids. The office was empty. I made my way to the desk in the center. In the center drawer I remember that a pistol, fully loaded with a bunch of ammo, is kept in. I open it slowly and breathe a breath of relief when I saw it was in there. Quickly, I put all the ammo into my backpack, and put the small pistol into my one and only pant pockets. Satisfied, I slipped out to find some food, and I head to the cafeteria, oblivious to what was really going on in there.

After slinking in shadows undetected I had wasted 10 minutes. My heart almost dropped when I looked through a window. Of course they would take the cafeteria. The tables were rearranged to a very long table. Kids were buzzing around. It seemed as if the whole school was in all at once, discussing what to do. Cleverly, I checked to see who was at the head. But who I saw surprised me greatly. Demond? Turner? Demond Turner was the leader of all of this. The two people on either side of him where Erik and his brother, Damion. This, if he was the leader didn’t surprise me. If they took the cafeteria that meant that food was going to be hard to come by. My stomach rumbled and I wished that I had taken my mother's advice and had eaten breakfast. I quickly slink back into the shadows, and go into a single bathroom. Locking the door, I sit down. I need a place to live. This obviously wasn't an option. Neither were the buses, I guessed they would be way to easy to get trapped in. I thought for a few minutes, then thought of the different aspects of the school, and where there would be a special place that was hard to get to, but I knew how... Then, I remembered something from when I was up on the roof, and then what was required for the school, based on a law. I could live in the lookout station. They are just a hole in the roof with a little shelter on top. I stand up, and unlock the door quietly. I open the door a crack, and look around. I quickly shut it again after I see a kid dressed in all black, with blonde hair, greenish blue eyes, and really short. I rack my brain on who that would be.... Michael-John! Of course! He was famous for how well he could shoot guns and track people. 'He must be sent to hunt me down.' I thought quietly to myself and cursed. I locked the door again, and waited for him to leave. After a few minutes, I decide to try again. I open the door, to see Michael-John stand over a girl with blonde hair, and blue eyes. He had a foot on her chest, and she was whacking him with a book she had in her hand. Michael-John didn't hesitate to take out his gun. Which was surprisingly big and scary. I shivered, and imagined myself staring down it's barrel. I strained my ears to hear what he said...

"Last chance." he growled. "Are you going to do what I ask Anna?" he smirks, grabbing her book.

"Never!" Anna yelled, wriggling.

"What a pity." I quickly looked away, and my fear rose when I heard a loud bang of gunshot.
