[Day 1 of Just Dance Audition | 8:24 am]

I paced back and forth in my place. My fingers unconsciously tapped to a nonexistent rhythm; a dumb old habit I got from my mother.

The bus stop was barely crowded, granted today was a Sunday. I was hunched over on the blue bench with my dance bag at my feet. Sweat rolled down the side of my face and I scowled. At this point, I had been waiting for ten minutes now. Impatient, sweaty, and quite frankly, hungry. I held the flier clutched in my fist and glanced around me. Where were they?

Tati came running towards me, the contents of her huge dance bag bouncing up and down. "Sorry, sorry, we're late!" She panted, completely out of breath.

"Late?" Sean asked, bent over and breathing heavily. "We're not late. Kenny's just a weirdo that just has to fifteen minutes early to everything. Even the bus stop." Then, he passed me a sandwich from Subway. I didn't bother checking what was in it, because I was sure Sean knew my exact order.

I took a bite from my sandwich and nodded, satisfied. Sean remember to ask for extra mayo.  "And now we're not even that." I pointed out. "It's just five minutes now."

"Unbelievable."

"Sue me for being punctual, Sean Lew!"

Tati placed her hands on her hips and both of our heads shot towards her. "I swear to all that is holy, it is 8:30 in the morning and I am not going to deal with you two bickering." She scowled, her jaw clenched and her head tilted to one side.

"Sorry, Tati."

"Sorry, Tats."

It does seem kind of ridiculous, as we hung our heads and frowned like toddlers apologizing to their mother. Though she was maybe five inches shorter than me and several months younger than the both of us, Tati has always acted so much older. Motherly, even. Even at eleven, when we first met her.

Tati turned away from us and hauled her dance bag to the bench. She grunted slightly and the bag landed with a loud thud.

"What is in that thing?" Sean asked, walking towards the bag. He grabbed the strap and lifted it up. He let out a puff and the fact that even he struggled was saying something. "This bag looks bigger than you!"

"Knowing Tati, I'm sure there are three meals worth of food, water, an extra bottle of water, a journal for documentation, several towels, hand sanitizer, God forbid, probably about a thousand bobby pins and hair ties and for the heck of it, maybe three sets of extra clothes for herself. Plus one for Sean because I'm sure she's certain he forgot."

Tati rolled her eyes, but smiled. "Hardy har." She said. "...But you forgot the safety kit." She mumbled softly afterwards.

I laughed and turned to Sean. "She literally just proved my entire point!"

"You're too mean sometimes, Kenny. You managed to mock me too in your one giant insult to Tati." Sean said, shaking his head.

"It's what I'm here for." I shrugged.

As soon as the bus we were taking arrived and screeched to a stop, we hopped on.
