It was Jack's first day of elementary school, he was a new transfer student from Ireland, his homeland. His family and him had moved to America for his father's new job working at a company. He was nervous for the first day of school, palms sweaty, he bounced his leg up and down as his Ma drove to the new school. "Are you doing well, sweetheart?" She said with a concerned tone. My eyes dropped, "I'm just scared. What if they make fun of me?" Jack's mother parked in front of the school and looked over at Jack, "You're a kind boy Jack, I doubt it. But if they do tell me okay my boy?" I nodded my head as a smile came across my lips. "Okay ma!" I chirped cheerfully. "Well I better get going. Thank you for the ride!" Leaning in to give my mom a kiss on her cheek she smiled. "Okay baby boy, go get em." I tightened the straps of my backpack and held onto them, then jumped out of the car. I started walking to the entrance and waved goodbye to Ma, watching her pull out of the driveway of the school. I inhaled deeply and sighed, "You can do this Jackaboy. Now get in there and -" as I was rudely interrupted by someone running into me. We both fell to the ground, my backpack being a slight cushion breaking my fall. I groaned and rubbed my head, getting up. "What in the blue balls?!" I yelled out, my Irish accent thickening. "Oh," a soft, quiet voice spoke. I looked down at the boy, since I was slightly taller than most of the 1st graders here. He looked muscular, with square glasses, and messy black hair. He looked down, rubbing his arm in shame as he fixed his crooked glasses. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to run into you.." He whispered. I shrugged and pat his shoulder, forcing a smile. "It's alright dude." I said calmly. We both stared at each other for quite sometime. I guess, this was also quite the start of a new friendship.
