Her hands skimmed swiftly over the piano's keyboards, a soft melody sending its tunes throughout the room, and a part of the hallway. But even though she played it by the book, she stopped all of a sudden and slammed her fist on the keyboard, making a cacophony of sounds.
She shook her head slowly, muttering "Not good".
But after a few seconds of deep thought, she clapped her hands and started a new song, this one better than the other. Halfway through the song, she started to smile, and by the end of it, she was laughing. After the...events from last night, she needed some quality time with her favorite instrument.
"Carmen?'
She was so startled by the voice that she fell from her chair, but seeing who it was, she got up quickly and shot him a glare. It was a tall, blue haired boy, who wore glasses and whose gray eyes looked like the sea during storms. Her classmate and fellow ghoul investigator under cover, Arima Kishou.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" she spat at him.
"We were supposed to do some research on Lantern." he told her, while rising an eyebrow.
"And I want to relax after what happened just some hours ago."
*Flashback*
Y/n walked slowly to her apartment, knowing that her parents weren't expecting her to arrive earlier anyway. After her hand-to-hand combat training for that day got cancelled, she wanted to go out with her partner, but as always, he refused her. "The jerk", she thought. But having nothing better to do, she took the glamour of one of the teachers and sneaked herself into the school's music room. Ah, the power to manipulate other people's bioelectricity came in handy. She's been able to do it ever since she was six, and now she was sixteen. She observed right after it appeared that nobody else besides her could do it, and hence, kept her mouth shut about it (with one exception, her CCG partner and only friend, Arima).
It was getting dark outside, and the air was colder and colder. She stopped for a brief moment to blow some warm air on her hands when she felt it.
A ghoul was approaching, and fast. She put one of her hands and readied herself.
When it jumped to attack her from behind, her mind grasped the control of the ghoul's limbs and made it fall face first onto the ground. With calm, her mind searched for the point from where its kagune would emerge, and squeezed. Hard.
It started to scream in agony and move without any control, hoping that it could, by chance, to remove the force that was causing so much pain.
But in the following second, the [h/c] girl thought the ghoul looked like a familiar figure. Too afraid to see for sure who it was, she ran away, knowing that the creature was still recovering from the shock and couldn't follow her.
And of course, when she talked about the whole incident with Arima, he told her it was stupid, and that she should have stayed and denounced the thing. He was right, indeed, but she still rolled her eyes. She knew that she did a stupid thing, and didn't need to be reminded by him.
*End of flashback*
"I still think you're an idiot." the blue haired boy told her.
"Yea, yea, I love you too. By the way, I have a piano contest this evening, and you're coming with me. I already asked Marude if it was ok to go and invite you too, and he said yes."
With that, she walked out of the music room, leaving Arima with his mouth slightly agape.
