Im still looking your way

I was brought back to reality by the sound of Shannon's voice.
"Do you guys have any thing to drink in there?" Shannon said as she walked over to Britney who was in the front seat next to clay who was in the divers side.
"Yah but all we have is coolers and we all know you don't drink." Clay said as he rolled his eyes.
Shannon looked over at me and quietly said," I guess One wouldn't hurt me."
I gave Shannon a little grin and she returned the favor.
Everyone got out of the car. Britney and Jane started to nudge at Shannon motioning her to come with them. Shannon looked at me.
"Are you comeing?" Shannon said in a playful voice.
"I'll catch up with you later." I said with a smile.
"K" Shannon said as she started to walk toward the lake with the other girls.
I watched Shannon walk off and then I heard clay call my name.
"Alex mind helping us with the drinks?"
Without hesitating I walked over to the car and pulled out two six packs of beer from the front seat. Clay and Chase did the same. Clay shut the door as chase and I began to walk to the lake.
Once clay caught up to us we had already passed a couple of maple trees. I could tell they were maple trees because of the scent they gave off.
"So Alex have any idea why your here?" Chase asked with a little smirk on his face.
I felt a little nervous
"No...I...uh.... Shannon invited me..." I said feeling a little uncomfortable.
"She doesn't just invite anyone. She invites people who she's interested in Alex" chase said
I looked over at Chase and shook my head no.
"Ah come on you didn't really think she invites every stranger she sees right? You had to at lease think about it..." Chase said but was interrupted by Clay
"Your crossing the line chase." Clay said with irritation in his voice.
"I was just saying clay." Chase said knowing that he was only making him more upset
"Just stop talking before this get out of control." Clay said but this time I could tell by the red in his face that he was serious.
I looked over at chase and he gave me a smirk. I knew what he meant by that. He was pointing out that he knew what he was doing. I was hoping things wouldn't get anymore awkward. And thankfully they didn't.
When chase Clay and I had gotten down to the lake the girls had already had music playing. I looked around trying to find Shannon but she wasn't with the girls.
"Sit down Alex. Relax," Britney said teasing me with a smile,"Shannon will be back soon I promise.
I gave out a nervous giggle and sat down next to chase who was sitting next to Jane. And Britney was sitting next to Clay right in front of us.
"Who wants a beer?" Clay asked
"Meeee!!!" Shouted Britney Jane and chase.
Clay passed out the beers.
"What about you Alex? Don't act like you don't want one." Chase yelled
"Um...I'm driving remember." I said in almost a whisper.
"The cops won't care they never have. You'll be okay just take one bud it's all good. And if you get to hammered then I'm sure Shannon will cover for you." Chase said pushing a beer into my hand.
"Fine" I said as I let the beer slip into my hands.
"That a kid" chase rooted.
I opened the beer and took a couple sips. I made a little fire pit in the middle of our circle. I began to wonder what was taking Shannon so long. I took a couple more sips of beer telling myself not to get to drunk cause I might do something stupid like spill out all my secrets to theses strangers. Talking about secrets I noticed Britney whisper things into clays ear and I began to try to make out what she was saying but had no luck. Britney kept whispering things into clays ear. I looked over at chase and he just shrugged and too a drink of beer.
Chase and Jane where having a conversation about what they were gonna do after high school. Jane wanted to be a nurse and chase wanted to be a mechanic. They had an entire conversation about that and I just sat there drinking my third beer.
I felt hands wrap around my waist. I reacted by putting one hand on rope of those hands. The hands were soft and warm. It made me goosebumps. I turned around and It was Shannon. I gave a friendly smile.
"Hi" Shannon said in her innocent voice.
"Hey...Where have you been?" I asked curiously.
By now Clay had realized that Shannon was back. He seemed a little drunk.
"I was just..." Shannon tried to explain but was interrupted by Clay.
"Where have you been?" Clay shouted as he made his way toward Shannon. He was clearly drunk.
Shannon let go of my waist and got up. Once Clay got to Shannon he kissed her harshly. I looked away cause I thought it would be weird if I stared at them while they had a moment. Shannon broke the kiss and looked at me. I avoided eye contact. Shannon walked past Clay and grabbed a beer. She sat down next to Britney. I grabbed another beer and almost chugged this one.
"Wough, you better watch it Alex. What happen to the driver?" Asked Jane
"It doesn't matter anymore" I answered.
Clay was laying in the floor next to Britney. I think he pasted out. Yup he pasted out. Shannon got up and say by me.
"Hey" Shannon said flirtatiously
"Hi" I said looking out to the lake and away from Shannon.
"Are you okay?" Shannon asked trying to get me to look at her but I refused.
"Yah, I'm fine" I answered
We all sat there in silane for a few moments.
