"Mom please can we go back home?" I wined.
"Amanda, we are already almost there, this is our home now" mother argued.
"But this isn't fair mother, I'm about to turn sixteen in two and a half weeks, I was an upcoming sophomore..I had a life, a boyfriend, friends, I was the cheer captain, I got accepted to a collage there." I cried back.
"Hunny you'll make a lot of new friends here, you have to try at least. I'm truly sorry, but with this job placement, I had to take it or I was fired for good."
"Whatever." I said.I laid my head back on the headrest and felt the wind on my face coming in from my cracked window, I plugged my headphones in and drifted off into a dazed nap. I jumped at the touch of a nudge and the sound of my mother talking.
"Manda wake up baby, we're here"
I opened my eyes, it took a minute to adjust my eyes to the bright summer sun. When I finally cleared my vision, I looked up and immediately melted inside. I haven't seen our new house yet, I refused because I didn't want to believe we were moving. The place we were in was scary, horrifying.. I started crying.
"What's wrong?" My mother asked.
"Mom do you see this place ?? It's terrible. I don't want to be here I wanna go home" I answered.
"Amanda I've told you, we are home, now wipe your tears and start helping unpack" she snapped back.
I dragged myself out of the car and wanted to fall to my knees but I had no other choice but to get up and do what I was told.I first wanted to go check inside. The inside wasn't as bad as the outside but I didn't like the way it smelled in there, it smelled like mildew. It was a small house, it was all one floor and our old house was three times this size. I walked down the hallway of the two bedroom house and found the room with my furniture in it. My old house was so big and comfortable and warm. Three stories and what every kid dreams of growing up in. I remember swinging on the tire swing in the back yard and every time I would go up high enough, I would pick a cherry off our cherry tree.
"
AMANDA"
I heard my mother scream and it snapped out of my sweet memory. This place had no back yard, the houses were so close together. I walked back outside and helped my mom lug in our suitcases first. She told me to go unpack and I did. Our big and main furniture was brought here about a week ago in a moving truck so we only had our clothes with us. I went into my room, I hung up my clothes, set my comforter set I bought recently up on my bed, laid out my shoes, hung up my posters and my lights that hung over my headboard. I walked to my door and looked around my room and it felt as if I was at home again for just a minute. Even though at home, my room was way bigger. I laid down on the bed and sighed. I thought to myself what was I going to do. I got up, and walked out to the living room. It was about seven pm now, mom was finishing up dinner.
She asked me to set the table and I did.
We sat down and ate the meatloaf and butter bread because thats all we had. I was so tired afterwards so I went into my room. I washed my face and changed into pjs, and as soon as I crawled into my sheets, I felt instantly drained and that's when I suddenly starting falling into a deep sleep...
