I arrive at the agency and park my car in my usual spot. I change into my agency outfit. Black skinny jeans, black leather tank top with thin straps, black leather jacket, and black one-inch leather boots that went up to my mid calf. I walk into the building and head to the third floor, which is the practice floor. I head over to the knifes area. There I see Ryder and Cassandra throwing knifes at a dummy.

"Hey, guys. Mind if I join you?" I ask them with a smile.

"Hey, Scarlett. Sure thing," Cassandra says. She's 20 with blonde hair that is always in a braid and blue eyes, like mine. She is my closest friend here in the agency. I take a knife and throw it at the dummy and it land right where the heart would be if it were real.

"Nice job," Ryder says.

"Thanks," I say.

"So, how was school?" Cassandra asks me throwing a knife as it hits the dummy's head.

"The usual. At least I didn't get homework today. And bad boy Chase dumped chunky milk all over my skirt," I reply throwing another knife that hits the dummy's fake eye.

"Not the watermelon pink designer skirt right?" Cassandra asks.

"Yes!" I say throwing another knife that hits the other fake eye. "And then he practically laughed at me."

"He's still the same since freshmen year," Cassandra was a senior when o was a freshmen. I nod.

"But, then I dumped chunky milk of his head," I say.

"That's my girl," Cassandra gives me a high five.

"Oh, I heard Chief hired a new teen spy," Ryder says.

"That's cool," I say. I knew all the teen spies. There were like twenty. I wasn't only the best out of them, but one of the best in the entire company.

"Yep, that's another newbie, another friend," Cassandra says with a smile.

"Yep, but know here's the part you might not like as much," Ryder says. He pauses to throw a knife at the dummy that hits the stomach. "He's your new partner, Scarlett."

I turn to look at him. I can't have a partner. I always work alone. It's better for me. I grab a knife and throw it hard at the dummy without looking at it. I glance at it and see it hits dead right in the nose. "What?"

"He's your new partner," Ryder says slowly.

"He? What?" I say. "I don't have partners."

"Oh, yeah. I heard that too. He recently completed his training," Cassandra says.

"But, I work alone. Where is my mom?" I ask.

"She should be in her office," Ryder replies.

"Thanks," I head over to the elevator. I wasn't going to yell at her, she is my mother. I'm just going to ask her a few questions. I reach the floor where her office is located. I walk through the halls and wave to people I see and know. I finally reach my mom's office and open the door. I see her sitting at her desk and a guy standing in front of her. I can't see his face since his back is to me. But, I can see that he's wearing black jeans, a black shirt, black leather jacket, and black shoes. I can see that he has dark hair and has tan skin. They are talking.

"Mom?" I say.

"Ah, yes. Darling, come in," my mom, Mary, says. The guy turns around. He's wearing dark sunglasses, but he looks very familiar. "Meet your new partner. Chase Eastern, this is my daughter and your new partner, Scarlett Carson." He takes off his sunglasses to reveal ocean blue eyes.
