Chapter 9

Veronica's POV

"You got that?" The flight director asks us. He just explained all the rules of skydiving and man could a lot of things go wrong. We all nod and he walks out the room to start the plane.

"I'm so excited!" I sing and jump up and down like a little kid. I'm usually very cool when it comes to things but right now I can't believe that I am going to do something I have always wanted to do. Grayson smiles at my excitement and I give him a slight smile back then turn to Dakota.

"Are you excited too?" I ask him.

"Not as excited as you, but excited" he chuckles. I smile and then the pilot walks back into the room.

"Okay we're ready to take you guys on the plane." He says and motions for us to follow. I automatically start to follow him, Hope and Dakota behind me, and Grayson and Ethan at the end. When we boarded the plane, Hope and Dakota were talking non-stop and I could see the sadness in Ethan. I almost felt bad for him. Almost.

"Okay so you all have your goggles and helmets and parachutes right?" The director asks as we take off. We all say "yes" then he nods and enters the cockpit (hehe cock) with the pilot. I look over to Dakota and he looks like he's going to shit his pants.

"Hey, you'll be okay. If you want, we can hold hands when we jump out the plane." I say. He turns to me and gives me a grin then nods his head and I chuckle. "Your lame" I look to Gray and Eth and they're both whispering to each other.

"Watcha whispering about" I say and sit back in my seat.

"Oh nothing" Grayson says, mocking me from earlier today. I roll my eyes but grin.

"Yea right" I say sarcastically. He smiles and turns back to Ethan.

"Okay, we will be over our target in a few minutes so start standing and figuring out who's jumping first." The director says over the loud speakers.

"Obviously Veronica is jumping first" Ethan says.

"Definitely. And so Hope can catch all of us diving together, she'll go last." I say. Hope is wearing a camera on her helmet to record everything.

"I'll jump with her, so she won't be lonely" Ethan says and smiles at her.

"Whatever" she says.

"Wait I don't want to jump alone. That's not fair." Grayson pouts.

"Sorry Grayson but there's no one else to jump with you" I say and shrug. He pouts.

"Okay, when you guys are ready you can start to jump" the director says and opens the big door. I look out of it a little and we are so high. I grab Dakota's hand and stand right at the edge.

"You ready?" I ask, excitement filled in my voice. He shakes his head.

"But to make you happy, I'll do it" he says and smiles. I smile back and look in front of me. I take a deep breath and squeeze Dakota's hand, ready to jump. He nods.

"3......2...." We count down together.

"1!" We say and then jump. The air hits my face and I feel all my problems and stresses just leave me. A big smile forms on my face. I turn myself around in time to see Grayson jump. I hear a very girl-like scream and laugh. He looks at me and I can see the fear in his eyes. I actually feel bad for him. He probably still likes me and that's why he did this jump, because I can tell he wouldn't do it on his own. I suddenly see Hope and Ethan jump out the plane.

"Woo hoo!" I hear Hope yell. Ethan looks at her and smiles. I turn myself around and look at Dakota and his eyes are closed. I squeeze his hand for him to open his eyes and look at the view. He does but instead he looks right at me and I can tell he's so scared. I give him a reassuring smile. He smiles back and starts to pull me closer to him in the air.

Is he going to kiss me? As we get closer, I lose my breath and forgot that we are 5000 feet in the air. As our lips are about to meet, Grayson comes crashing between us and he pushes me far away from Dakota. I start to spin and the air and I start to laugh but get dizzy. I manage to stop myself from spinning and I look to see and angry Dakota and a sick Grayson. I manage to move over to Hope and we smile at each other. I look at the camera on her helmet and make a funny face and smile. I notice we're getting really close to the ground.

"Guys! It's time to get our parachutes out!" I tell everyone as loud as I can. They all nod their head and we all pull our parachutes. We slowly descend to the ground and the guys fall to the ground while me and Hope stand on the ground. I guess girls have better balance.

"That was so much fun!" I say. Hope nods her head but Grayson and Ethan look like they're going to puke. Dakota looks really angry instead of sick. I shrug it off and turn to Hope.

"You got everything on camera?" I ask. She nods.

"Yeah, we will forever remember this." She says and smiles. I smile back. The truck comes and gets us and we ride back to the place in an awkward silence. When we get there, we take off all the gear and then Hope pulls me to the side and smirks at me. I give her a questioning look.

"Don't play stupid with me, you and Dakota almost kissed! If it wasn't for stupid Grayson-" she stops and walks over to Grayson who's talking to Ethan and punches his arm hard and then stomps back. He's holding his arm now. "You guys would have definitely kissed!" She says angry. My eyes open to the size of watermelons.

"We did not almost kiss" I say. She then hits me upside the head. "Ouch" I say and rub my head.

"We both know you guys were going to kiss." She says, still angry.

"Whatever. If we did, it doesn't matter. Why are you so angry about it?" I ask confused.

"Cause he clearly likes you and I think you like him. You guys would make a great couple." She says and rolls her eyes.

"He doesn't like me" I say and cross my arms.

"Are you stupid? ITS SO OBVIOUS! He makes it as obvious as Grayson!" She says. "Damn, you get all the guys" she rolls her eyes.

"You got Ethan" I wink. She cringes and shakes her head and I chuckle.

"Anyway, he obviously likes you and you like him, you didn't deny it." She says.

"He doesn't like me and I have a little crush on him but it's nothing big. I think I may still have feelings for Grayson" I admit and scratch my head. Her mouth drops open and she hits me upside the head again.

"Fuck Hope, stop that!" I chuckle awkwardly.

"You can't like Grayson! He's been nothing but mean to you and he's terrible!" She says.

"Oh c'mon, can you look me in the eyes and tell me that you don't still have feelings for Ethan?" she looks me in the eyes and sigh.

"Of course I'll always have feelings for him, I loved him." She sighs and I see her eyes tear up. I hug her.

"It's okay, but it's the same thing with me but I just never loved Grayson. I just have feelings that won't go away." I say and pull away. She sniffles and nods her head.

"Okay let's forget about everything and join everyone else" I say. Dakota is sitting all alone on his phone. She nods and we walk over to him.

"I think it's time to go home" I say to him. He nods and puts his phone away and stands up. We start to leave the place.

"Let's go Dolans" I say to them as we walk through the door. They quickly catch up to us at the car and then we're off to the house.
