Chapter 2

GONE

          I could feel something hot burning through my skin. I slowly opened my eyes and was blinded by a bright light that seems to have shone through the satin curtains of the room a couple of steps away from me. By the time my eyes adjusted to the brightness, I examined the room. It was a small room with only a bed and a dirty white sofa right at the other side. Aside from that, there was an oxygen tank and a fluid regulator that seems to have been injected on my left arm. It didn't take long for me to realize that this place was a hospital, and for some reason I have been brought here. 

I reached for the bandage that was wrapped around my head and twitched at the painful stab that came along with it. Thinking was painful, breathing was painful, at this moment, being alive was painful. I took a deep breath, bandage on hand, and stared at the door. I could hear voices from the other side, footsteps and cart wheels. I don't think I've ever been in a hospital before. I have always been the best in both studies and martial arts back in the Institution. Why am I here? What am I missing?

Lying back in bed I stared at the ceiling I wondered how nice it actually felt being in a hospital. It was peaceful and the place smells so clean. 

If only he was here.

I quickly sat back up and looked around. Who was I talking about? My head started to ache and hurt. The injuries that they seemed to have sewn closed felt like they opened up three time more painful, and my throat seems to have a huge lump stuck inside it, making it impossible for my voice to come out. As I sat there embracing myself in pain, scene after scene, memory after memory, and tear after tear seems to have found its way back to me. 

I yelled at the top of my my voice. I wasn't even sure if sound came out from it when suddenly the doors flew open and a guy in a white robe came in accompanied by a girl that seems to be a nurse who works here. 

I kicked and kicked and probably dislocated the needle on my arm cause it was now dripping with blood. The Doctor quickly grabbed both my arms and pinned me down, then turned to the nurse who seems to have been frozen scared at the blood on my arms, and ordered her to do something. It was hard to stay on my senses. I felt like one of those cows, that knew they're going to be grindded and waiting for their turn. I could've won against the Doctor if it only wasn't for the bruises and probably broken bones that I have.

A couple of minutes later, the nurse came back in with two other people. A woman with dark brown hair that almost reached her waist, and an old looking guy that was wearing a blue collared shirt and khakis. Both faces that looked familiar to me. A painful longing hits me and before I even noticed, my eyes had already been flooding tears. 

"Ania.." Mom said with a sad and worried face, almost crying. She walked towards me and hugged me as she also started to cry.

"Momm.." I know she wasn't my real mom. I don't even know who my real mom was, But she has always been there ever since I could remember. Her role in society was a simple secretary and a mom to both me and Link, but she has always been there to support me like a real mom would.

My dad was talking to the doctor and explaining that they would take it from here. He also bowed showing gratitude, and the doctor left with the nurse. Dad watched them walk a little bit farther then came in the room. Closing the door and turning the lock on, I could feel the intense look in his eyes. He walked towards us, and in my surprise, hugged me like a truly worried parent would. I couldn't help but cry more, these two always, always was there for me.

Mom was now cutting rabbit shaped apples as dad sat on a stool he brought in awhile ago right next to me. Clenching his hands around mine and sad eyes I've never seen before.
