As I found myself carried far away from my original Timeline and unable to get back to where I was, I adopted a Timeline. I went into the dimension of magical Earth, where Mankind had a relationship with mythical creatures instead of killing them off and denying the presence of eldritch entities with the progress of Science.
It was a place of wonder and I picked that as my new World to settle. After days of studying the natives, I infiltrated a manor of a wealthy nobleman as a stable hand to look after the man's horses. I was picked after a tedious selection of other strapping young men. I had help from the nano machines to control the living organisms to do my bidding.
At the touch of my hand, I tamed a wild stallion to the surprise and shock of all watching. The nano machines would in time, break the horse down to its most basic blocks on command, but for the time being, I rewrote it's memories.
I saw for myself the cruelty of Man. The nobleman had a beautiful wife who would often torment and mistreat the younger maids of the manor. I saw her pouring hot tea on the hand of a maid because she was too slow in delivering the tea to her mistress. I saw her whip the face of the horse groom with her riding crop because he did not get the horse ready in time.
The nobleman himself would indulge himself on the working class men. He was a deviant and his neglect of the wife show through the increasingly violent acts of the wife. I was unable to accept his advances and in time, I suffered the loving 'care' of his wife. After some time, I left the estate, along with the other servants, because we could no longer tolerate the abuse of the household.
I went to work this time as a wand maker, under the watchful eye of my master. We harvest the living wood of the Treant in exchange for our compounds. Following that, we shaped the wands to their general forms. I learnt a bit of magical wood crafting from the old master. Wand making was a family practice that was passed on from his grandfather. The old master did not have any descendants, so it was likely that this practice would die off with him after his death. I learnt the practice for the fun of it. In my world of hard science, it was unlikely that the magic would work.
My own magic did not stem from this land too, and I was unable to explain how my own magic worked.
