My Only Chance

Chapter 5

Chance P.O.V.

“Three Weeks. Three Damn Weeks. I haven’t seen her in three weeks. Something is up. She is always over here but lately Zach has been going over to her place.” I scream.

“Dude chill, you don’t know what’s up.” Kyle said.

"Oh and you do?” I sat up from my bed and glared at him. “Okay enlighten me. Why is Claire avoiding me? How am I supposed to, as you like to call it, ‘confess’ my love for her?”

“First off, yeah I do know why Claire has been avoiding you and secondly, I’m not sure that whole confessing your love is going to work anymore…” Kyle looked away from me, guilt clearly written in his eyes. He knew something but I wasn’t sure what.

“And why not?” I stood up, crossed my arms over my chest and stared him down. It was his fault I was in this mess in the first place. I didn’t want to confess anything until I had told him and he told me to do it. He told me that I could win her over and win her heart. If that changes, I may pummel him.

“Now don’t kill me but ClaireandRileyarebacktogether.” He mumbled the last part.

“Excuse me?”

“Claire and Riley are back together.” He ran out of the room. But I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. She was back with him. The man that broke her heart and tore it to shreds. That dick. He once again had the only thing I wanted in life.  What the hell am I supposed to do? How the hell am I supposed to win her heart?

I was so pissed. My world once again had turned upside down. She would never be mine. With all the built up anger in me, my fist went flying.

"Ow..god fucking dammit.” I opened my eyes and didn’t expect what I saw. Zach lay on the floor clutching his right eye in his hand. “What the hell dude?”

“Oh fuck. Zach I’m so sorry.” I leaned down by him and helped him up.

“Yeah sure. Now may I ask what I did to deserve this wonderful black eye you just gave me?” He uncovered his eye and pointed at it. It was starting to blacken at the bottom.

“You didn’t do anything. Something just pissed me off and you just happened to be in my target zone. Sorry.” Usually I would expect someone to flip out and yell. But Zach, well, he laughed.  “It’s not funny.”

“Hey, I’m the one who got hit so I can think it is funny if I want to.” He continued to laugh and soon I started to join in. We laughed for awhile before he got up and left.  “Oh and by the way, Claire is coming over to dinner with Riley.” He said poking his head back in.

Well fuck.

Sorry it has taken forever.  College life is crazy. And don't kill me...I know this is super short but I figured it was better than nothing!! I'll try to get the next part up soon.
