Sixteen years old. Dilapated house. 2 small messed rooms. Worn out books. Friends? Haa. Never had one. I actually had a lot of them but not anymore. Thats my story. I wake up everyday, feed my little sister either eggs or butter on bread, then walk side by side to school.
I never thought my life gonna change to what it is now. Its ironic how things easily change. Well yes. I was living in one of those big expensive houses in the city before it all happened. My father was the greatest man in all years. He worked in a lab, discovered a lot of secrets and had the oportunity to travel around the world searching the depths of every region in order to solve the mysteries that no man was able to figure out.
Its was four years ago. I was twelve years old and my sister Amy was only five. My sister and I were watching T.V, mom preparing lunch and dad in the lab downstairs working on his new project when a sudden bang got us on our feet. Masked men were all around our house. The door alarm was ringing. Those men were breaking in. They got weapens, knives and vests. Helicopters were floating around too. One of them was giving commands to search the house while the other was talking which seemed more like yelling at mom. He said they were from the F.B.I and my dad is going to be arrested for some crime. I didn't know who the F.B.I. where back then, and I still don't know what the crime was. They wouldn't tell me. I recall my sister crying and mom shouting with tears running down on her face. Though my dad seemed mortified, he asked us not to worry. "There's for sure an innocent mistake", he said. I followed my dad crying but the men kept pushing me away. I felt so despondent. My wounds wouldn't heal. That's the thing about pain i guess. It demands to be felt.
Since then my mom was trying to take care of us. The government took our house including the laboratory. We were forced to move. We suffered everyday. Spent nights on the streets, and when I asked mom where is all our money, she'd say they have freezed our bank account and took all our money leaving us with a little amount that could barely provide us with food. After three weeks of anguish, we found a house at the end of the lane. It was really too small but at least is a place where we can survive.
If you were wondering why my sister and I are living alone today. Well its because the government found us once again and took our mother away. It was even harder.
A year ago or so, I lost my anchor. I recall the air was electrified. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. The sound of the of the police cars, the men shouting, the rain outside and the road all dissolved into silense. I couldn't believe it. It was happenning again. I couldn't bear watching Amy cry. I looked away at mom. Her tears stabbed me in the heart. So somber. The thought of not seing her again torments my soal. For the first time, I was hopless. "LOOK OUT FOR YOUR SISTER.", those words that left me speechless. I can feel my stomach's knot tighten harder and harder. It was so tough. They took her from us the moment we needed her the most. I grew up hating the government and the country. They have deprived us from our parents and our childhood. After losing my mom by my side, a heavy weight descended upon me. I had to take care of Amy when I was trying to handle my issues. I wanted to face what life had offerred, but it was too hard to understand what was going on. It was like sailing in the occean without having any idea where you are going. Waves carry you to places you have never dreamt of.
APRIL 13th
Two more months and all the anguish and suffering in school gonna drain away. "Today is a special a day". I would never forget my sister's birthday. I bet she doesn't know what day it is. "Breakfast is served", I said, " waffles and orange juice". I can see she was thrilled. We didn't have waffles since they took my father. "Amy get youself ready. We're already late for school" I yelled from the other room. We walked together down the lane, and I thought to myself how could I ever live without her. A sudden panic arose from within me. I wouldn't let anyone take her from me.
