My bare feet slowly swept across the smooth marble ground as my eyes fluttered open. The area around me hazed back and forth becoming clearer each time.
A great mansion sat some 10 feet from the pathway I had been laying on. Raising to my feet, little figures danced around the outside of my vision like elves in a merry ceremony. One step at a time I somewhat stumbled toward the gargantuan house.
Lights led me through the darkening sunset, and seemed to glow a warm gold that made the air outside feel extremely fuzzy. The doors were huge and intricately woven with metals I had never seen before.
Ready to push with all the strength I could muster I set my hand on the ingress and as soon as my skin made contact with the inter working of the metals it smoothly and gracefully untangled upwards to show a beautiful open room decorated with succulents of every size, shape, and color.
Searching for signs of residents of any kind I quickly swept the area and saw the shadow a man hidden in the plants across the room.
"Excuse me? I seem to be lost." I called out to the figure, "where am I?"
Like a slick eel the man slid around the plants into the open. His face covered in a mask of roses and daisies, " why you are here in my humble abode." With that he bowed to reveal bright pink hair struggling to free itself from his intricate floral covering.
His voice was calm and warm, it was familiar. I slowly spun to see the room I was in. It was exquisite, absolutely beautiful. The ceiling reached so high it could have shared a breath with the moon and stars, the plants seems to shift making the room seem alive.
"I see you admire my greenery, would you like one for the road?"
Like a child I bounded towards the bushel of roses, they were white as snow.
"Pick how ever many you like," the man smiled.
Eagerly I reached towards a full rose with speckles of blue running through the center.
The stem was soft and smooth. I wrapped my fingers around it and plucked it ever so softly and it broke from the bush with no protest.Suddenly behind me, the the man lightly took it from my hand and pushed it into my hair, which to my surprise sat comfortably and stayed in place.
With a new interest I looked around at the other flowers, each with a different color and pattern.
My eyes caught on a single bud, I couldn't tell what flower it was but I felt drawn to it. I slowly reached for it and felt a stiffening in the air. As the stem broke into my grasp the bud burst open in my hand.
Petals laced with fire sprouted from the center, thorns erupted from the stem and dug into my fingers. I yelled out in pain and dropped the plant.
A single drop of my blood hit the ground from my cuts, mixing with the fire flower on the ground. In an instant the mixture turned to ash on the floor.
As the dust spread, the polished wood I stood on lost its luster. It began to peel and crack, slowly rotting away to a black tar. It spread and the plants morphed into thorn bushes that dripped with glowing green poison.
The walls faded into a thin layer of small squares that blew away as cards in the increasing wind. The cards whipped around the man behind me, enveloping him completely.
In terror I screamed out, "who are you?"
The cards cut away the mask and showed a familiar face with eyes that burned like hot embers.
"Can't you tell? After all it was written in the stars" he smirked.
And with that the cards flew at me, pushing me against the floor. I struggled to free myself but the sheer weight was just overwhelming.
My eyes were pressed shut and I let out a scream of frustration.Opening my eyes I see some 10 nurses holding me down in my hospital bed as my body convulses against my will. Frantically I look around the room to find a single man, standing in the door of my room, smiling a sick smile as he waves and closes the door.
