"Mmm, you're so warm," I sighed, snuggled up against Jake.
Jake smiled and kissed my forehead, "As are you my sweet."
All was well and I was so comfortable, cuddled with Jake on his couch. I felt like I could stay there forever. As I was about to comment on how perfect the moment was...
DING!
"Urggg... Damn phone..." I grumbled under my breath.
It was Jake's and ding meant my perfect moment was over. He slid out from under the blue blanket and headed for the kitchen.
I got up to follow him, complaining, "Ugh, what is it now?"
He looked at me with the most sympathetic face and sadly told me they called him into work.
"Why do they always need you?! Can't they just let you alone for one day?!" Frustration dripped off my words.
"I'm sorry babe, but they need me and I need this job. So I have to go." Jake explained as he finished tying his steel-toed boots. Standing, he turned towards the front door.
Getting mad, I pouted and stomped back into the living room. He glanced back to follow, starting to turn to say something, but thought of something better and walked towards the front door.
Plopping down on the couch and thinking he was leaving, I tried to relax when suddenly Jake screamed from the kitchen! Without thinking, I jumped up and ran as fast as I could to see if Jake was alright.
As soon as I turned into the kitchen, Jake swept me off my feet into a warm embrace. His lips crashed down on mine. My light blue eyes flared open but as soon as they did, they fluttered closed as I leaned into his strong chest. As my arms wrapped around the back of his neck, tangling my fingers in his dark brown hair, his arms tightened around my waist. When the heat was getting too much and we were both running out of air, he pulled away. Staying flushed against each other, Jake smiled and whispered down at me, "See you tonight Ariel?"
I couldn't speak as I was trying to regain my breath so I just nodded in response. My face felt like it was on fire and was probably red as a tomato when Jake kissed me on the cheek and started walking out the door.
Finally regaining my sense of speech, I shouted at his back, "I love you! Be careful!"
Without turning around he said, full of passion, "I love you more! And I will, I promise."
