"You have to kill me. Now, Flint." Cinder begged him desperately.

"What? Why?" Flint questioned, thinking that she had lost her mind.

"It's a prophecy. The one who controls Grimm will be the next Grimm leader. I don't want to turn into Jaden Saltier." Cinder whimpered into his chest.

"I won't kill you. I literally died for you. Twice. Why would I kill you now that I finally have you back? And besides, the prophecy is just a bunch of words. It won't matter as long as we will it to." Flint explained lightly. The explanation made no sense at all, but calmed Cinder down.

"Now come on. I think it's time we sleep."

----

Cinder awoke the next day to find that Flint wasn't in the same bed she was. He was missing, but she thought he was just cutting wood once again.

She never expected to walk downstairs and find a note on the ground from him.

"Dear Cinder,

I heard the words you said at my mother's grave. You're really willing to die just to make sure the Grimm die? That's noble. Very noble. But it's something I can't allow you to do. So, with this, I'm leaving you with a proclamation.

I'm going to kill all of the remaining Grimm in this world. Until then, I'm going to have to stay away from you and Emilia. Although I'd rather not........ It can't be helped. This mission of mine will begin in two days.

I love you.

I really do.

Look under our bed. I've written a long book about you. If you ever miss me, read the book. It's the only thing you have left that will remind you of me.

I'm sorry. This mission will take me across the globe....... And I won't allow our daughter to live like that. I'll try my best to visit. I really will. But the visits won't be frequent.

I love you, Cinder.

From,
Flint."

----

Flint smiled to himself as he walked through the trees.

"Time to go to the deal and mess it up." He thought to himself.

---

Later that night, Chronos and Xavier stood facing each other. Behind Chronos were several boxes. Behind Xavier were several henchmen that held Chronos' family in chains.

"What's in the boxes?"

"I've got your money and what you asked for. Now hand over my family." Chronos demanded.

"Very well." Xavier nodded his head towards Chronos, signaling his henchmen. They released the family, to which Chronos quickly pulled them to safely.

"Now... About the second half of the deal." Xavier began.

"They're in the boxes." Chronos replied. Xavier smiled, repeating the same action from before. The henchmen opened the lids of the boxes to reveal female Faunus, tied up with rope and cotton shoved in their mouths to keep them quiet.

"Six female Faunus, just like you demanded."

"Good, good, good. Now...."

"He's to our left. Hidden in the shadows." Chronos replied again.

"They saw me?"

It took Flint two seconds to realize it. Everything, from the moment Chronos appeared in front of him to the moment Xavier threatened his family. It was all a plan. A plan to lure him out and away from prying eyes like Cinder's. They knew that if the assignment was dangerous enough, Flint would never allow Cinder to follow him. He'd be alone, with the strongest mercenary and probably a small army.

He'd taken their bait.

Too bad they'd taken his as well.
