"You know babe, considering you're like super popular and you have me as a girlfriend, you're pretty miserable." Madison says, scrunching her nose and flicking her hair back.

"Erm, okay?" I fake a smile and carry on with whatever I was doing - nothing.

"I mean we're in school! That's the perfect place to," she begins winking at me.

"Bang."

"Learn."

Madison and I say these words at the same time, all of our friends around us turn to look at where the loud roars of high pitched screaming was coming from.

I, of course, kept a straight face as everyone watches us. They can't really say anything to me. I'm the leader of the pack, the one everyone knew, the one that everyone loved. I'm great like that.

Absolutely great.

Everyone stopped staring when another one of the annoying girls of our growing 'squad' sighed contently as she pointed at the entrance to the canteen. "Thats Uriah. Weird name, fit body."

There were a few high pitched agreements and one deny. "No where near as good looking as my boy." Madison screeches down my ear, beginning to bite on my neck, leaving an obvious mark that no one really cared to judge me about.

Just a normal 16 (17 in 4 weeks!) year old boy getting the same amazing shit everyday.

It's amazing, I know. But I hate it. I hate it so much.

I close my eyes and put on an exaggerated smile. I turn my head to look at Uriah, the new boy, as everyone seemed to be so infatuated with him.

I squint slightly, the lack of glasses was always a trouble for me. Madison had told me that it ruined my image - God forbid.

I roll my eyes and laugh at the sarcasm in my thoughts. I am one funny fellow.

Now, back to Uriah.

He's alright, I guess.

No, I'm joking. He's absolutely gorgeous. Wow. This boy is stunning. No homo.

He looks up from his phone and right into my eyes. Although he's far, I notice the intense grey of them. A small smile drops onto his lips as we share a stare.

My face turns red and I quickly look down, shying away from the close-to affection that I received from this stranger.

Perfect (without sarcasm), a guy that doesn't know who I am that I just might befriend.

I get up from the round table that made me feel oh so claustrophobic and I briskly walk away. I try to move closer to Uriah without making it obvious. I can't start conversations, you see. That isn't what Cole Matthews is about.

I kind of wander about in a corner, eyeing Uriah every few seconds.

Luckily, he comes over to me first.

"Hiya." His deep voice echoes through my ear.

"Erm, hey." I try to act confused and popular, he can't be thinking that I want to talk to him.

"I'm Uriah, I started new here." He keeps up his upbeat attitude, smiling still.

I clear my throat. "And?" I raise an eyebrow.

"I was wondering if you could tell me who Cole Matthews is. He's my buddy and every time I've asked someone about him, they kinda shy away."

Great.

"Hm. How old are you?" I randomly ask. "I'm 16, you?"

"I'm 17. Turning 18 in 4 weeks."

4 weeks is my birthday.

"What year you in?" I ask quickly before he can change topic.

"Sixth form, going into second year after the summer hol's." He replies, still with a bright smile. "What about you?"

"I'm going into first year sixth form after this. There's only a week of school." I say. "About that, why'd I only see you now?"

"Just started now - obviously." He rolls his eyes.

I scoff. "Well sorry." I laugh lightly. "Also, you say that you needed Cole Matthews." I bite my lip as he nods. "He's in my year, not yours."

He shrugged. "Said something about everyone else in my year having this week off." He mumbles. "So they chose him. Now, can you tell me who he is?" He seems to be quite impatient.

"Yeah, sorry. It's, uh, me." I push my hair back and give him a teethy smile. "Ha! Weird, innit?" I try to force a laugh.

He looks at me like I'm a mad man. "Erm, I guess so." He shrugs. He looks behind me and clicks his tongue. "Is that your bird?" He questions.

I turn around to see Madison. I close my eyes and groan but force a smile anyway. "Yeah." I sigh. "She is."

A hand gets placed on my shoulder and another above my crotch. Classy Madison, as per usual.

"Who's this, babe?" She asks, putting on a higher voice as she looks at James with beady eyes.

"Uriah, Madison. Madison, Uriah."

"Hi." They both say at the same time.

Madison looks between us two. "You know," she pouts, "you're fit. Cole and I, we're in an open relationship. Ain't that right babe?" She looks at me.

Since when? "I guess."

God Madison, you fucking slag, just go.

Okay. I'm sorry, that was rude of me.

"Maybe we can..." She trails off while playing with her hair.

Uriah looks between us and starts to laugh. My face burns a bright red colour again as I try to look away from his grey eyes. He quickly covers his mouth with his hands and stops laughing. "Oh, I'm so sorry. That wasn't very nice. If you knew what I was thinking abo--"

"-- what were you thinking about?" Madison pushes, looking quite annoyed.

"I'm gay." He chuckles.

Madison's eyes widen. "Gay?" She screeches.

The whole canteen turn to face our way.

"Like what, shagging boys and necking on with 'em and disgusting shit like that?!"

It's now Uriah's turn to look appalled.

Go on Cole, no one will say anything to you if you butt in. You're Cole fucking Matthews.

"Madison!" I scream. She shakes and looks my way. "You are a disgrace for a human! You're a slag. There, I said it. A slag. I can't stand you and you make me sick. You're a homophobe and a plain fucking Jane. There's nothing special about you - fake tits, fake ass. Same old. I don't want you. You don't want me. You're using me. I'm going to say it; I'm popular! I know. But at least I'm fucking nice to people. Now honestly Madison... We're over."

I walk away feeling like a boss.

I just gained a whole lot of happiness today.
