Dear Simon,
It's winter now. I awake every morning with numb fingers due to the white frost that has now covered my dated bedroom window. No matter how many layers of blankets rest upon me the only cure for this temperature is my trusty heater. Unfortunately it chose to end its life early November with a couple of sparks dwindling my warmth to a stop.
You will be happy to know that Ava has grown three inches since you last saw her. She is going through a stage where she often throws in words such as 'ambrosial' and 'carpophagous' into sentences to make her sound more sophisticated. In my opinion an eleven year old girl trying to use such language reminds me of the noise a Guinea pig makes when it hasn't been fed in a couple of days.
I begin my second semester into my senior year tomorrow, not at Greenvale as you might have predicted. No, I begin my second semester into my senior year at Westview High. Greg suggested it would affect not only my education but my already 'broken sad soul' if I completed my remaining semester at Greenvale College. I suggested that Greg should go fuck himself in his shitty apartment while his rescue cat Brittany watches, but Mum decided Greg's suggestion would benefit me the most.
I, on the other hand researched the fuck out of Westview High and was relieved to find out that the school team sport is not football (ultimate douche sport) but instead they have an elite team of baseball players. Not that in anyway, shape or form I, Holly Lee support any type of sport which succumbs to such sexist after school activities. But as I may recall, baseball was your favourite sport. I remember those Friday nights in summer when the sun wouldn't set until 7:45pm, I remember Ava's squeals as the ball came tumbling towards her and I remember- just the thought that you would encourage me to join Westview because they played such a childish sport, washed over me like a wave of comfort.
I'm scared Simon. I'm more then scared to be frank. I'm completely and utterly petrified of what my second semester of my senior year at Westview High might bring me. However I have come to term with a theory, no attachments.
