Injury Apocalypse: Joe Gomez, Joel Matip & More!

Here I was thinking I wouldn't need to do this in the preseason and would only have to debut it in the season! Silly me! This is Liverpool we're talking about!

Once again, our center backs are taking all the injuries. Seriously, Daniel Sturridge isn't injured yet. You can't make this stuff up.

One that you should know is Joe Gomez. He injured his achilles, resulting in an achilles tendinopathy, or overuse of the achilles. Depending on things, it usually is chronic, much like the injury Hendo had just last season where for a while (about six months or longer), the symptoms of this injury will come back to haunt him and all. He still will need to bring himself back to full fitness, but even he has said that it's rarely a smooth path. Hopefully it is for him.

Mamadou Sakho, funnily enough, is suffering from a niggling achilles injury, something like the injury Gomez is going through. But his time back can be tracked, with reports saying that he'll be back in three to four weeks. This means that the both of them will be out for the start of the season. This also means that we will need to dip into the money bank again to get another center back, hopefully one that will be just fine with staying behind three or four people for most of the season. Like Agger. Or Kolo. I hope LFC gets where I'm going with this . . .

Three others aren't much of worries. Marko Grujic is out sick, but will be hopefully up and ready to score goals in no time. Alberto Moreno is out with a neck injury that could be healed just fine with a massage (or cutting that crazy hair) and Brad Smith was out with a groin injury. Both were out just so as not to aggrivate anything.

Joel Matip is the worry here. Recently he had screws taken out of his ankle from a past injury and now he's out, with the same ankle bothering him. Klopp believes it's nothing too serious, nothing a bit of RICE couldn't fix and we'll have to just sit back and hope he's right. I'll have updates with that in the next coming hours/day when things pop up.

Just pray someone doesn't trip down the stairs and hurt their leg. Especially Karius. You may have thought that he did something unforgivable (he hasn't anything to do for three games straight, he may have just gotten so bored he got distracted), but he's much better than the next one in line right now, Adam Bogdan. Mignolet's out on vacation due to Euro 2016, so seriously, just hope for the best!

Edit: Joel Matip had a scan for his ankle, revealing no serious injury. This still could stop him from playing on Wednesday if it just bothers him, but will not stop him from going on the US tour or against Arsenal. If the injury continues to bother him, there's a chance he will not pay against Chelsea, AC Milan or the whole tournament.
