I don't fit into any stereotypes. And I like myself that way.~C. Joybell C.

FOUR YEARS LATER

Fifth year, and no matter where I went in the castle, what classes I took or how many different activities I did, she was always there.

Annabeth Chase. Since our first meeting on the Hogwarts express, we have hated each other every step of the way. We were actually very famous throughout the school for being the two leaders of the houses that hated each other. It didn't matter that we were only fifteen. Ever since our first year, we had been known as being perfect examples of our houses. We had stellar reputations inside of our house, and everyone was always excited to see how we fought next.

And now that Slytherin and Gryffindor had potions together, I had to put up with her everyday for the rest of the year. At least she was smart, so maybe I could convince enough to help me skate by in Potions to pass the year. Snape scared the crap out of me.

I took a seat and waited for Snape to begin the class.

"Good morning." he said, his oily and slick voice sending shivers down my spine. "Today we will be brewing Draught of Peace. I highly suggest that you all pay very close attention to the ingredients, since this is a frequent task in your O.W.L.S examinations."

"You will be paired up with a member from the opposite house to work on it." He said, and began reading off the names. I didn't pay much attention, only listening for my name.

"Jackson and Chase." He said, and continued right along.

What? I glanced over at her, and she had the look on her face like she was staring at dead roadkill. I raised my hand. "Sir?"

"There will be no switching of partners, Mr. Jackson. I suggest you learn to work with her for today." Snape said, not even looking up from his list.

I sighed in defeat. I wasn't going to argue with Snape. I hated him, but I wasn't going to argue with him.

Once Snape allowed the class to get started, I walked over to Chase. "Do not do anything that I don't tell you to do, stay away, and don't touch anything. I'm not failing this because of you, and i'm going to make it perfect." She said, not even looking up from her book.

"So the Slytherin thinks she's so much better than us, doesn't she?" I sneered, crossing my arms and glaring. Finally, this year we were the same height, after five years of her being taller than me, it was annoying.

"Yes, she does think that." Chase said. She turned and said, "Go get the ingredients." She tossed a list at my chest, and I caught it.

"Stop making faces at my back, Jackson." She said, without even turning around. I stopped immediately.

Walking over to the cupboard, I grabbed all the necessary ingredients and placed them in front of her. Immediately, she started getting to work on it, and chopping up the materials.

"Umm, are you sure you're doing that right?"

"Yes. I am." She answered.

"You sure?" I asked again, just to annoy her.

Quick as a whip, she lifted the knife off the table and pressed the dull edge to my throat. "DON'T question my ability to do something." She hissed, and returned to her cutting.

I rolled my eyes, even though I was slightly afraid, and said. "Well, here we have a murderous Slytherin, in her natural habitat."

"Would you shut up!" She whisper-yelled.
