There's only six more minutes of this god forsaken school day. I can do this. I can do this. I chant to myself. I continue to listen to the teacher teach until I felt my phone vibrate. I pull it out and read the text.
'Hey Alex just wanted to let you know I'm in the front of the school. Hope you had a good day XX' Asher once again made me smile over a text.
'Okay thanks and I'll talk to you when they let me out.' I press send and nonchalantly stuff the phone back into its resting spot and listen zone in on what the teacher is saying.
"Alright class. So you understand that with there being only a few months left until you graduate you must be on your best behavior, correct?" hushed murmurs of agreement make there way to the front of the room.
"Good." Mrs. Harp pauses to roam the class with her eyes. "I would like you all to know that you need this class to graduate and you must work hard. And if you need any help just ask and I will try and deliver" she smiled. She seems like she is going to be a very nice teacher. Maybe.
"Alright class you know the homework. You may pack up now" and after she announced that the bell rang. Lucky for me I packed up while she continued to lecture us.
I zoomed out of the class and met up with Haley towards the front of the school.
"So how'd it go?" she smiles at me and I return it.
"How do you think it went? It was great until we stopped sharing classes" I laughed. Which it was totally true. Haley and I share two glasses and not including lunch. Sadly.
"It will get better Alex" she tries to reassure me. "I use to be the new girl. Still am considering I moved here six months ago and no one knows who I am yet" she starts laughing. Hard. And I couldn't help but join in.
"Well I know who you are. Hey do you wanna hang today? At my place? We can get this work done" I offer up.
She stops laughing and straightens up as she seems to be thinking. "I would love to. When?"
"Good question. Um do you have a ride?"
"Yeah I drove here"
"Okay cool. And we have each others numbers. I'll text you my address and time when I get home. Sound good?" I inquire.
She seems to beam at the idea and nods her head excitedly. Me and her are going to be close. I can already tell. "Sounds good."
"Alright I'll see you later" I wave heading to the front.
I walk out the glass doors and see a clear parking lot except for a few students and vehicles. My eyes roam until they land on a familiar jeep. I run over to it and hop in.
"Hey Asher" I greet him buckling into my seat. Safety first.
"Hello Alex. How was your first day? Did you stay out of trouble?" he raises and eyebrow at me.
"Fuck you" I mumble under my breathe.
"What was that?" he questions as he cups his ear.
"I said school was fine. May we go home now?"
"Maybe" he laughs
I look over to him and glare. "Maybe?"
"Yes maybe. Do you want to go home?"
"Yes I do as a matter of fact"
"Why do you wanna go so badly?"
"Non of your concern" I stick my tongue at him knowing my answer would bug him.
