Part 8: The Revolution

The Revolution is an idea that Mark and I had a few months ago. I don't know why it came to me now but as I slept in the van on our way to Vegas I considered it. The Revolution was the idea to form an army, in 2015, of people who wanted change i our country and would obey us. Then to gain control of the U.S. military secretly and use it, still in secret, to destroy all the nukes that could hit us. Then we were to take over the white house our selves with as little death as possible on both sides. Then we were to form a Parliament and a council of 7 who would vote on and control our county's affairs. Then but absorbing a number of corporations into the government, we would no longer have to pay for weapons, construction, or equipment and use only robots made by Elon Musk to produce everything. Then, the all around assault rifle of the US was to be changed to the Thompson 1928A1 SMG. As part of a closing ceremony we were supposed to have cut a bunch of useless government spending and use all our money to have our debts payed off by 2030. Then we were to close the country's boarders and stop everyone from entering. Then we were to completely redo all our government systems and make them not only more people friendly but more connected with the people. Lastly There was the cause of cleaning up our cites. All of the countries towns and cites were to be as best cleared of crime as possible with a rock hard police force. Gun laws were redone so that back ground checks were mandatory but all weapons were purchasable. All the country was then freed and the boarders were reopened. Finally the country was restored to a Democracy in 2040 and it would run smoothly after that. There were a lot of kinks granted but it was an okay idea. And we had been really mad when we came up with it so whatever. It was odd though. Thinking about this as I slept. I dreamed of being the commander of the country helping it be what it once was. I dreamed of being the President, of having Tracy as the first lady. Of making this world at peace once again. But then the dream began to colappse and I saw as other countires tried to free us from our own grasp and then everything just stoped and I woke suddenly to Tom shouting,

"Yeah you! Shook  night long!!" to the song. He turned off the radio and I found we were stopped. "Yo! Todd! we're here."

I got up and grabbed my bag. Tom opened the back doors of the van and I climbed out to meet Mark and him and we went inside. The hotel was a pinkish bage color and palm trees light by up-facing lights in the planters were illuminated in the sky. The lobby was desolate and empty except for a TV raging CNN and a lonely desk attendant. The hotel was nice and I wondered how Tom planed to afford it, he didn't have that much money.

"Hey uh there's a room resevation for one night under Tom Barrot." he said in a civilized tone unusual to us.

The clerk check his computer a rate of speed that a torrtis could have matched. But hey, slow and steady wins the race.

"Yeah okay," he said reading the computer, "alright um yeah okay, prepaid, checked, yeah okay here's your room key and your staying in room 309 on the third floor. I hope you enjoy your stay." he said handing Tom a key.

"Thanks." Tom said and smiled.

"Have a good night." the clerk imidiately went from being all posotive and professional to watching CNN.

We walked over to an elevator and waited as it came down. The doors opened and we stepped in. The elevator was empty and kinda cold. Tom press the 3rd floor button. The elevator went up and I said we all said nothing except for Tom who just wiped his face with the back of his arm and yawned,

"Ugh I'm so tired."

We reached the third floor and all walked the short walk to our room. I put my bag on the floor by the fold out couch, Tom took the queen bed on the far side and Mark took the other one.
The room was nice. Flat screen TV, full kitchen, large bathroom, well furnished. I was suprised too. Tom had never been to secretive about his money and he wasn't Bill Gate's when it came to fortunes.

"Hey Tom, I don't mean to be rude but, this room is really nice, not even my parents could afford this, how did you?" I asked.

"Well gents, your friend Tom has recently come into come money, I won a small lottery for 10 grand, and thanks to a large comision on the sale of a 1970 Chevel, I have a total of 45,000 dollars. I have already paid for the expenses of the hotels, a gas card, the ranges, the girls, and all the other things I have planned."

"Wow, why didn't you tell us you won the lottery?" Mark asked.

"Yeah, and why would you spend it all on a vacation? your usually the kind to save money." I pointed out.

"Well first off, I only spent 14,000 on the trip total, and I needed my bros to come along. So I payed Todd 2 grand, and gave Mark Katy Perry's home phone number,"

"That never happened dude." Mark and I said to him shaking our heads.

"I'm telling you I totally got blown by Katy Perry, that's besides the point, I brought 500 for gambling and 1000 for other expenses such as food or whatever we may need like tampons for Mark unless he brought enough for him."

I laughed and sat back on the couch, "This is fun Tommy, Thanks for bringing us along." I said.

"Yeah Tom, Thanks." said Mark.

"Guys come on, like I'm not going to bring my brothers to Vegas with me." He said flopping down on the bed. "Well, I'm gonna go to sleep because I am tired." He said and pulled his fedora over his face. Oh right! Tom ALWAYS wears his fedora, I can't believe I forgot this about him. The hat looks like he litteraly stole it from Indiana Jones. Mark turned out the lights and got into bed. He pulled himself under the covers and smushed his face into a pillow. I lay there listening. My eyes still wide open.

"Hey Mark," I siad after a minute.

"Yeah." he said, his voice muffled.

"Do you remeber that idea we had for, The Revolution?" I asked.

I heard him sit up, "Yeah," he said, his voice no longer muffled, "We were gonna change the world." He said.

We chuckled.

"Yeah," I said.

"Boy we could use a revolution now." he said, "and we thought it was bad then. Wow"

"Yeah," I said, "You know it's funny, I dreamed about that on the drive, and you know what was weird? Tracy was there." I heard him move at this, "She was the first lady and I was the president. And it was strange, it was like she had always been there, you know?"

"Yeah." he answered slowly, "Hey what's the deal with you two? I asked her and she said there was nothing going on between you." So he was just curious, thank God, I thought to myself, "I dunno, she's pretty hot though man."
Damn.

"Yeah, uh I wish there was something going on but there isn't." I said.

"Huh," he said, I could tell he was thinking about her in a way that didn't have anything to do with just being friends. "Well I dunno if I were you I'd get on that shit."

"Yeah." I said.

"Well good night," he said.

"Good night." I said and roled over to turn away.

I didn't like that Mark was into her, but as before, I wasn't her boyfriend and thus had no stake in the matter. Anyway Mark and I were best friends, I couldn't hold a grudge. I closed my eyes and in a few moments I was fast asleep.
