You bend over, your hands on your knees, gasping for breath. "Can't... breathe..." You choke out to yourself.
You were out taking a tour through the forests of Jurassic World when word reached the tour guide that there was a containment breech. Of course everyone panicked, despite the tour guide's attempt to keep everyone calm. People just started to become calm when the tour ran into the Indominus Rex. You don't know how many people were killed, you just ran. And ran. And ran. You're in a forest somewhere, with no sign of any dinosaur life.
You straighten and calm your breathing. You pull out your cellphone and lift it high up in the air to see if you can get a signal.
"Come on, please. Please, please." You plead wistfully. Nothing. You groan.
You hear numerous branches snapping and you stiffen. You slowly turn your head and see movement. A loud, ear splitting roar sounds and you gasp, covering your ears. It's the Indominus Rex.
"No." You cry out in horror. You immediately take off running again. The ground shakes beneath your feet and the hysteria that you feel makes you nauseous.
You glance behind you as you as you break through the forest's edge. You run into something and scream. Your eyes wide, you turn to look at what you ran into.
"Who're you?" You ask the man, holding a rifle, who's staring at you in shock.
"My name is Owen. Who are you? What's happened to you?" The man asks, looking you up and down. You look down at your ragged clothes which are speckled with blood.
You swallow. "My name is Y/N." You answer. You tell Owen the whole entire story. "A-and that-that thing--the Indominus Rex--it's been stalking me. It's following me!" You exclaim.
"Where is it now?" Owen asks, looking behind you.
"I-I don't—" You're about to say before you feel the ground beneath you shaking.
"We have to go—we have to go now!" Owen exclaims, grabbing your arm and drawing you to the top of the waterfall.
"What-what we do?" You ask, looking around for a way to escape.
"We jump." He replies. You look at him like he's joking. He stares at you in all seriousness.
"You've got to be kidding." You scoff.
"If you want to stay here and be that dinosaur's next victim, go ahead." Owen says, preparing to jump. The ground is shaking more voilently now.
"No! I'm coming with you!" You exclaim.
Owen pulls you into his arms as the trees start parting ways for the Indominus Rex. Just as Owen jumps off the cliff, taking you with him, the Indominus Rex emerges from the forest.
Owen and you plunge into the water. You stay beneath the surface until your lungs scream for breath, and then Owen and you push yourselves up.
You gasp as you look up at the cliff. "He's gone." You say.
"He'll be back." Owen says.
You look at him. "I think... I think you just saved my life." You say.
Owen half grins and nods his head to the shore. "Come on, we have to get out of here." He says.
"I'm staying with you." You proclaim.
"Just don't slow me down." He says, swimming.
You smile. "Don't worry, I won't." You reply.
---
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up." Owen says, holding a hand up to stop you as you both stand at the edge of the forest.
"What's that noise?" You ask quietly. Owen tilts his head upward, listening. There's a sound of faint screeching that's growing louder by the second.
Owen holds his rifle a little closer. "I don't like the sound of that." He says lowly.
"We shouldn't be near the forest." You say, walking past him. He follows you, while constantly looking up at the sky. The screeching is much louder know and it makes you peer up at the sky.
"Y/N, duck!" Owen shouts at you. You do as he says as pterosaurs fly through the sky and start dive-bombing Owen and you. One grabs Owen off the ground and flies off with him.
"Owen!" You shriek in horror.
"Y/N!" Owen screams.
You push yourself up and reach for the rifle that he dropped when the pterosaur grabbed him. You hold the rifle up and squint, trying to follow the bird. Your pointer finger is barely pressed against the trigger.
Your heart pounds wildly against your chest as you realize what you're about to do. You swallow, shaking. You hold your breath as you brace yourself. You take your aim and then press the trigger.
You stumble backwards from the recoil, and see the pterosaur and Owen plummeting to the earth. He lands on the ground with a solid thud and is unmoving. Your heart drops.
You drop the rifle and run towards your friend. "Owen." You choke out. He's laying face down. "Please, Owen, please." You gasp, kneeling beside him, a sickening feeling in your heart. You touch his back lightly and he starts coughing. You breath a sigh of relief as Owen turns himself over, staring at you in shock.
"That was an insane shot, Y/N! You could've killed me!" He exclaims, almost angrily.
You sit back on your heels. "I know." You breathe.
"I've never shot a gun before too." You add. Owen stares at you in horror. "First time for everything, I guess...?" You laugh nervously.
He cracks a smile. "Never do that again, Y/N, okay?" He says.
"I don't plan on it." You reply as he pushes himself to standing.
"Thank you, Y/N, for saving my life." He says.
You smile up at him and nod. "You're welcome, Owen." You respond.
"Come on. The aviary containment must have been destroyed, and now it's just made getting back to the resort a whole lot harder." Owen states, grabbing his rifle.
You follow him as he walks off. "Great." You sigh.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
