Thomas POV:

I hate chess. I hate chess so very, very much. I have played it everyday for a month. You can only play chess with an owl, a bear, and cats without it getting predictable. Kai kept his promise he shows up for a day brings me food and drinks that aren't water. I like energy drinks and sometimes I want a soda. He came yesterday so I'm gonna have to sit around here for a while. There is no television, books, or even a phone. I have a computer that only loads up two things, Pandora and a weird messaging system to Kai requesting certain things.

He didn't get the message directly. We tested it out I asked for random board games. Kai walked in holding my normal supplies. I requested books, a television, and a bunch of children's toys. Every time he would walk in no clue I requested anything. Kai proved he wasn't only going to bring food however he helped me keep in touch with everybody. You never know how popular you are until you disappear for a month. I got letters from at least 60 people. I didn't know I knew that many people.

I sat at the computer trying to figure out a good station. I heard a small knock at the door. Who could that be? Kai just walks in and breaks my robots. Nobody knows I'm hear. I step towards the door when a robotic claw juts out blocking me from opening the door. "Master Cartwell, allow me to get the door. This is not a scheduled visit you may be in danger"

I backed up and let my security open the door. It was a little old lady holding a basket of flowers. I know I've seen her somewhere before. I don't know where. "Hello young man, you must be the little Thomas I've heard so much about. Kai has, wait a moment. Hmm where did he go?" Kai and Paul walk in wearing ugly, matching khakis and green polos. "Ah there you are. I was just telling Thomas about how much he's grown on you two."

Kai smiled up at me. His face still wasn't it's usual warm self. He still seemed cold and ready to destroy anything. Paul had his face stone as usual. One of the robots went to grab Kai. I blinked and I missed it all of the action. "Sorry I don't like being in this outfit much. I get a little crabby." I tilted my head "The headmistress requires attendants of the lowest caliber wear this when they accompany here anywhere. When we are promoted we will get different clothes. Even though we've been on your case for so very long we still have yet to get our promotion."

The old woman, er headmistress, handed me the basket of flowers. She wants me to brighten the place up. I can hear here thinking how plain it was. I still couldn't read who she was. She walked right in and looked around. "Kai, you know you get to upgrade your uniform soon. Now where was I? I honestly do not remember. Well anyway I thought I would apologize for your uncomfortable circumstances. As your retainers have probably informed you the school is no longer safe for you."

Is my neck ever going to get a break? My head tilts to the opposite side. The headmistress looks at Paul to explain. He shook his head and pointed at Kai who was furiously typing on his phone. "Ah the dictionary definition that isn't a mouthpiece. We are considered 'a servant or attendant who has served a family for many years' according to dictionary.com at least."

Hmm, I would have rather called them creepers. They watched me for 7 years without my knowledge or consent. Just because they are close friends doesn't mean I'm going to forgive them for that, well it does but I'm going to hold this over their heads for a while. I set the flowers down on a nearby table. "Ma'am, I was informed that the school was not safe. I am fine here. Physically I am fine I mean but I do have one request" she nodded "I'm finding there to be a lack of time consuming activities. I have been left here with so very little to do I find myself falling into a rut of sorts. I have sent in requests for things to keep myself entertained but they seem to have fallen upon deaf ears."

She nodded at my complaints. "Yes, I'm afraid you will have to make do with what you have for now. In two days when you get your supply drop I will have some small things added to keep you from stimulated. Ah, I just remembered why I came here. Thomas, you have grown quite a bit recently and you have discovered you have new powers beyond speech. So I wanted to bring you all of Dr Batfry's work on the powers you possess." Paul dragged in a wagon of binders "I would also like it if you could start treating some of the other students. We will bring them here, you treat them, they leave, and everybody is happy."

I agreed to help her and with that she left. No goodbye or formal decree she just walked out. Kai and Paul waved as they followed her out. Something about their expression seemed pained. Well I don't have time to dwell on that now I have years of research to catch up on.

Dr. Batfry was a brilliant man. He documented every part of his kids powers. I finally may actually be able to access some new abilities soon. Castor was a very vicious child. Reading exactly how he trained his powers in gory detail. There is one study showing if you are killed inside of your soul you die in the outside word in the same fashion. Castor did this research himself on a number of victims. There were only three binders with anything of significance. One from Batfry himself on how Castor controlled his powers and used them. Another was from Pollux on the strength of the soul and the world it creates within a person. The final was Castors gruesome memoir, while I hated reading it there were steps to use certain powers in there that I couldn't find in any other book.
