Oh, dear. Oh, oh, oh, dear.

I run my hands through my hair. She kissed me! Twice! And I kissed back! And I'm taking her to dinner!

This is not good, why did that happen? I'm regretting this now. I almost want to tell her that this won't work.

"Marcel, is Chase still here?" my mum calls.

"Just left, through the window," I say.

"I like her, you know," mum yells.

"I know," I chuckle. I sigh. This is so confusing.

The next day at work I approach Caroline.

"Caroline, I was wondering, how did you get this job? You obviously worked pretty hard for it, so I just-"

"Not really. I fucked David. Best sex he ever had, know I have a job," she boasts.

"Oh," I say quietly. She didn't lie. Jocelyn was right. I feel a little bad, but continue working hard. A job is a job.

..

"He asked me out again," I beam and take the bottle of water from Levi's hand, take a swig, then give it back.

"Marcel?"

"Yep."

"That nerd?"

"Yep."

"Wow. Lucky guy, did he drug you?"

"No."

"Did you drug him?"

"Almost," I grin.

"Aw, sly. Go back out there, here's your Coke's," Levi chuckles and slides me three cups of Coke's.

After work at the sandwich shop I head back home, the sun warming my skin. I sigh. I'll miss summer. It's my favourite time of year. Everything is so happy and warm and fuzzy. Unlike me. But eh, opposites attract.

"Honey, I'm home," I call after unlocking my door. I toss my keys on the table and kick off my shoes. "Oh, right, I live alone," I mutter and flop onto the couch. I pull my laptop from its storage place under my feet and open up my browser. Let's learn some shit about careers and the future!

Halfway through today's lesson, Marcel calls me.

"Chase's answering service, this is Angie," I say in a posh voice.

"Um, Jocelyn?"

"Hmm?"

"I-I'm sorry, for not believing you about Caroline, sh-she told me today how she got the job," he says. I grin.

"Hey, I'm not a liar," I gloat. Many, many things, but not a liar.

"I-I know... I'm sorry," he says.

"It's all right, Marcel. I didn't even think about that."

"You're not easily offended."

"Nope. Hard as rock."

"Okay. Well... um... bye," he says. I can practically hear his blush.

"Bye-bye, Marcel," I giggle. Aw, he's so cute.

Day off. I did all my lessons for today yesterday. Don't go to the library until much, much later. Don't have to go to that stupid sandwich place at all. Date with Marcel tonight.

I should go to the gym. I sigh and throw some clothes in a bag with my gloves with the fingers cut out, extra padding on the knuckles, and a water bottle, and some gauze and athletic tape I have to replace a lot.
