Preface

I sat there shivering in the corner of my prison cell as I awaited my capturers to return and make me do another awful thing. It was cold, dark, but I was able to see a little because of the moonlight, and I thought that i was going to shatter my teeth because i was so cold. As i hugged my knees attempting to keep myself warm I thought about how i got in this position. I thought of my true friends who I had left behind because of my sudden fame. Then i thought of my family who were grieving at the thought of my disappearance. Who were looking for me round the clock.

My thoughts were interrupted as I heard them open the door leading down to my prison cell. I then saw them in the moonlight and they were smiling. Not happiness but they were very smug as they knew they had won as one held a gun and the other a phone. I knew what they wanted me to do and when they unlocked my cell, as they slowly walked forward smiling.

Chapter 1

I stared at the notice board in the middle of the corridor looking for when reports go home. I’m really terrible at all of my subjects that I do so I want to get my hands on my report before my mum does. I might then be able to get away from being screamed at for a couple of days or even weeks hopefully. I don’t want to get screamed at again but then again, I always get screamed at. Last time, my mum wouldn’t speak to me for a whole week because I was failing.

My brothers, Max and Chris, are very smart and are the  clear favourites. As soon as they started school they were an instant success because they inherited mum’s intelligence. Max is now at Yale University learning more about Astronomy and Chris is at Harvard. Why not at the same schools? One of the reasons is that they don’t like each other but the main reason is that Chris is studying to become a Brain Surgeon. They are always trying to out-do each other in whatever they do. Once they even had a competition on who could sew a blanket the fastest!

Me on the other hand, got dad’s side of the family which is, well lets just say destined to work as a bus driver. Ever since my mum and dad broke up, (my dad never quite met my mum’s standards) life just got harder and harder for me. I know that my dad was never that good for my mum because of how intelligent she is and with her very high expectations. Even when they met in Vegas he wasn’t that good for her. She was just drunk as hell when they got married. Now that they are both divorced, my dad had to start working at Mc Donald's to pay the rent for his apartment. I don’t know why they ever got together in the first place if it was like that but apparently love is confusing and blind. Very blind.

Like dad, I have a light brown hair and very bushy eyebrows. My skin is quite olive which is a good thing but I have very thin and un co-operative arms and legs. From mum I did get lovely brown eyes, long wavy hair and a really nice smile but thats about it. It would of been better if I got the better understanding and knowledge that my mum has when it comes to learning.

Before I found the date for reports to go home something else caught my eye.

Sure enough there were hundreds of names put down with hopes that they could win and shine on T.V. I would of signed up straight away that was if I were good at anything.

Before I could walk away I heard the sneering voice of Madison Poer  sneering “Why are you looking at the Talent Contest Sheet? You’re not even talented so why bother? Oh, wait, you do have a talent! Not being able to do anything!” She and her gang of girls started laughing at me, but I just stood there with a blank face watching them. Waiting for them to go away and leave me alone.
