I sat in my apartment feeling nothing but nerves consume me. I had spent three hours getting ready for my date tonight. I had on a tight pink dress that was strapless and some cream lace up heels. I felt good but I couldn't handle the butterflies I had.

A couple months ago I met this guy named Klay at my friends wedding. Little did we know, they were trying to set us up. At first I was a little hesitant considering I've only been with about 3 guys my whole life and because he's in the NBA, but after a while of texting and an occasional FaceTime I realized we had an undeniable connection. I was surprised with how comfortable I was with him. When we would FaceTime, we were on the phone for hours talking about everything, and I normally was just in my sweats or a plain t-shirt but he would still compliment me on how beautiful I looked. He always made me feel good about myself.

A couple days ago he told me he was free this weekend and asked me if I wanted to go on a date. Of course I was nervous because this was the first time, besides the wedding, that I would be with him in person, but I said yes anyway.

He was coming to get me in about twenty minutes and I sat there, feeling anxious and jittery. Before I knew it, I heard a couple knocks on my door. I got up and opened the door, smiling from ear to ear as I saw his tall frame standing in the doorway, with a button up dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up just below his elbows, perfectly fit dark denim jeans and some black dress shoes.

"You look gorgeous." He said eyeing me up and down.

"Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself." I smirked.

"C'non lets go." He chuckled.

We got to the restaurant where Klay made reservations for us. I immediately realized this was a 5 star establishment.

"Hi, party of 2 for Thompson." I heard him say to the host as I was looking around, admiring the beautiful art work around the main entrance.

"Oh yes of course, follow me." The host said as he led us to our table.

He led us to a back room where there was only one table in the middle of the room. The table was set perfectly with candles and a vase of roses in the middle.

I was in awe at how nice it was. I had never been with a guy that had the income of Klay's, not that it mattered, but it was definitely different from what I was used to and I wanted Klay to know he didn't have to try to impress me.

As I approached the table, Klay pulled out the chair for me. He then sat opposite of me and smiled, his face looking so handsome in the candlelight I couldn't help but stare.

"W-wow Klay, this is so nice. Are you sure this is okay? I mean, I would've been fine going anywhere.. Not that you can't afford it but it's just I don't.."

Before I could finish he interrupted chuckling,

"Shhhh, it's fine. Don't even worry about it, so what will it be?" He asked opening the menu and scanning the different options.

"Hmm, I don't know. Normally anything with pasta in it is fine with me." I chuckled.

"Yeah I'm the same way, my favorite food is Italian."

"So is mine!" I got way too excited.

Klay shook his head and laughed at me,
"You're so cute Y/N."
