I sat in silence watching the boys read my journal silently until I couldn’t take the quiet anymore.
I got up quickly and grabbed the book from in front of them and charged up the stairs with it in my hands.
A few seconds after, the boys realised I’d taken the book and started to chase me up the stairs. I chucked the book under my pillow as I kicked my radio to turn it on before lying on my bed and feigning innocence when the boys stormed in.
‘Where’s the book?’ Nolan growled and I chuckled. I watched with amusement as Hale tore through my drawer of memories.
When he looked up and realised I was smirking at him he walked to Nolan and whispered something in his ear.
Nolan nodded and walked towards me slowly, making me instantly on alert.
He suddenly lunged for me and lifted me clean off of the bed as Hale searched under the covers for the book.
I watched as he pulled it from behind the pillow and dropped to the floor to read it.
I closed my eyes and willed myself to go back in time to behind Hale just after I was lifted from the bed.
I reached out and tickled him violently under his arms, causing him to fall to the floor and squeal helplessly.
When Nolan ran around the bed to try and grab me I jumped on the bed, grabbed the book and made a beeline for the door, which I closed as I went through. To my amusement, as I pulled on a pair of ankle boots, I heard the boys slam into the door before cursing and attempting to open it.
Of course, by the time they’d struggled through my bedroom door I’d left the house and was hurtling down the street, running through the directions Willow had given me in my head.
Sadly, I’m a very slow runner compared to the athletic boys who were chasing me. So I decided to attempt the impossible.
To go forward in time.
I remember when I was in the SEP library whilst trapped in Controls Centre I read about my power in a huge book. It said Forward Time Travel was possible but very rare and hard to full off as it requires a lot of potential power from the ‘super-human’. It even has a load of dangerous side-effects: I could become disorientated, misjudge how far forward I want to go or completely screw it up and get transported a few hundred years into the past instead.
As I ran into park I decided to side track to take a breather and attempt this idiotic idea of Forward Time Travel.
I put the book under my arm and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths and thinking of nothing except going forward half an hour in time.
At first I felt nothing happen: none of the described rough wind or constant spinning the book had dictated.
So I tried again, this time drawing on every movie I’d ever watched that included time travel.
This time I definitely felt the wind, the uncontrollable spinning that made my stomach churn so bad that I thought I would throw up before I reached the new time.
After 5 minutes it stopped, stopped so suddenly I jolted my neck as I fell to the floor, my head still spinning as I tried to get my bearings.
I knew something I wrong even before I stood up.
My lace skirt and floral blouse were gone, replaced with a long black skirt and rough blue-grey shirt that felt like card board against my skin.
I couldn’t see my feet under the skirt but I knew without looking that my brown suede boots were gone and replaced with some insanely tight shoes that rubbed every part of my foot.
I turned around to look at the park that had been sunny just minutes before and saw the rain as it started to fall, drenching me completely.
I jogged out of the park and back the way I’d come until I automatically turned to open my garden gate.
‘Oh my god…’ Was all I could manage before I blacked out and fainted onto the wet floor.
