The Birthday: The Mask and Scarf

Kagekao was always the one who got bullied because of how he acts and how he dressed in black all the time, but he was sweet and innocent. The only friend he had was Lou. He sat on his bed, petting his cat. It was the comfort thing he had. Today was his birthday, but he doubt anyone would come. "Honey, your friend came to see you!" He looked at the door. "My friend?" he picked up his cat, Fluffers. He walked over to the door, twisting the knob and walking downstairs. "Hello, Kao!" Lou held a box. "Kao?" his mother asked. "I liked to be called that." Kagekao said simply. "Oh, okay then dear." "Heeeeey buddy, happy birthday!" "Yay! You remembered!" His mother smiled and walked in the kitchen. "Well, of course! You're my best friend!" Kao slowly frowned. "B-Best friend...?" "Yeah! Of course! Now, open it, I want to seeee yoooour reeeactioooon!" he gave it to him. "Alright alright!" he smiled wide, starting to open it. Inside, was a black and gray scarf. "Scarf?" "Yeah, eh, sorry, really.... I could afford and.... I know you like wearing black heh.... but seriously expensive...." "I loves! Thank you!" he put it on, smiling. "Oh good!" "Heh........" he started to frowned again. "What? What's the matter? Dammit I knew it...." "No no! It's wonderful! I just....... His mother came in with a cake and box. She set it on the table. "Here, "Kao."" she giggled and gave him the box. "Thank you." he started to open it. It was a mask... one side black, and the other white.... all just... black and white..... "Mask?" "Yes, it's also over a hundred years old.... so, be very careful with it....." "T-Thank you!"
