chapter 1

April's POV

I was very excited about being back at grey sloan. Today I'm returning after taking three months off with my daughter Bradley Karen-Catherine Kepner-Avery. Even though we were coparenting and not together Jackson and I decided for the first three months I would stay home so I could breastfeed and Jackson would have her one night a week and come visit her whenever he wants. Now that those three months are up I come back to work and Jackson and I switch off weeks with the baby

After dropping Bradley off at daycare I text Jackson she was there and headed to the attendings' lounge to get changed. After changing I was on my way to the ER. when I got there I saw Owen, DeLuca, RIchard and Maggie in trauma one.

" What do we got" I said

" 27 year old male shot once in the chest and once in the abdomen" stated DeLuca

" let's get him to the O.R'' Webber yelled as we rushed off with the gurney

We all quickly scrubbed and immediately started the surgery. after several hours half a lung and 10 feet of small intestine we finally finished. When I got out of the O.R It was the end of my shift and Jackson was still in surgery. since it was his week I took this time to go see my daughter. after holding my baby for a while I decided I should probably go home and sleep.

On my way to the attendings' lounge I ran into Arizona. I thought now would be the best time to apologize for my behaviour.

"Hey" she beamed

" Hey I wanted to say I'm sorry for my previous behaviour towards you. I would also like to thank you for being part of the reason my daughter has a mother. If you would have me i'd very much like to be your friend again."

she smiled " Oh April I was always your friend and I definitely accept your apology. I understand that you were just being an overprotective mother. I know this because since I have full custody I wont let Callie take Sofia to new York even though I know how bad Callie wants to be with Penny. anyways I saw Bradley in daycare this morning and she is so beautiful and getting so big. Welcome back April!"

And with that she hugged me
