Vanessa's eyes widen. Chaz? Chaz Somers? The one who knew about her addiction? The friend who had avoided her just like she used to avoid Ryan simply because the trio had no idea what was going on within the individual friendships? Vanessa's eyes looked from Chaz to Ryan. Ryan stared at her, deadpan, almost as if it was forced.
"Vanessa?" Chaz questioned. Vanessa gave off a small smile before it faded and she followed Chaz's eyes that were glued to her cup.
"It's not alcohol, I promise. It's some dry lemonade. Trust me, it's dry. It's not spiked or anything."
Chaz looked over at Ryan who simply shrugged, his jaw tight as he took in the scenery.
"Alright." He shrugged. Vanessa frowned slightly before looking into the cup. Tapping on the rim of the cup and chewing on the side of her cheek she wafted the substance beneath his nose.
"Yo, unnecessary. I believed you."
"Did you really though?"
"Hell no." Ryan scoffed. Vanessa glared at him for a moment before shaking her head and chuckling.
"That's fine. I get it." She nodded. "I'm the one who introduced alcohol to the group. Sorry I can't take it back." She scoffed sarcastically before turning back to view Justin.
"Actually, I thought we were past this. I guess I thought wrong. Thanks for the clarification." She stated, looking back.
Ryan chewed the inside of his cheek and Chaz simply looked at him, his eyes dull.
Sighing in disbelief she disappeared within the crowd, inching closer to the stage eager to be closer to Justin. His vocals were angelic like usual. It was almost as if his voice range was ideal for any song, his style or not. Staring at him at awe she began to blush."Thank you." Justin stated after his last strum. Many of the peers applauded and whistled. "Enjoy the rest of your night, kids." He stated a small chuckle escaping his lips. Slipping his guitar off of his temple he began to gently place it back into the case before the outdoor speakers came back on.
The crowd began to break apart and Vanessa took the chance to wait for him by the steps of the stage."You were amazing, like usual."
"Thank you, beautiful." Justin winked, looking down at his watch for a quick moment.
"I should get you home?" He questioned, 10:00 pm appearing on the face of his watch. "I don't wanna cause any trouble."
Vanessa began to stare at him, he brown orbs burning into his before she reached out and touched his forearm, tracing the lines of a particular tattoo.
"Thirty more minutes." She pleaded like a child. His eyes glanced at her finger tips until they finally greeted her eyes once again.
"Thirty more minutes." He chimed back. "Just let me put my guitar back in my car."
Standing alone, Vanessa scanned the crowd, her eyes landing on Ryan. His eyes stared into her and then directly at her, his eyes dull. Vanessa returned the same look before taking a small gulp of her lemonade and tapping the solo cup.The party was going well, a usual success (excluding complications). Dwayne and his boys hollered and gassed everyone up. Griffin appeared to have no chill. Each time a new song came on, the instrumental hardly evident he would be ready. A roar in the crowd boasted him up while he gave off a mutual feeling. The music getting slightly louder or at least it appeared that way to those that had a little something in their system. The night was endless, no cops or interruptions just teens living it up with their peers.
Pulling up to my house, Justin didn't bother to simply turn off the vehicle and end our night. Instead he reached over and carcasses my hand. Instantly, I became warm.
He didn't say a word, instead he brought my hand up to his lips and planted a gentle kiss onto the back of it.
Eyeing him, a small blush rushed onto my cheeks."I enjoyed myself tonight."
"I did too." I whispered, chewing on my lower lip, trying to hide my smile."Let me walk you in, like I'm supposed to."
My face instantly fell for a slight moment. Looking beyond the gates I noticed the porch light was on, like it usually was but the small uncluttered front room's light was not."Please?" He begged, rubbing a small circle into the back of my hand with his thumb.
It was late, but some days my father stayed after hours in the office, although he was his own boss, self-employed. Sighing, I looked back over at him, his orbs sparkling as he waited for my response.
"Okay." I stated.
He nudged my shoulder with his every so often as we walked up the driveway. Arriving at my front door, we stood under the arch. He stared at me for a moment. Once again, he played me. Got my hopes up. I was crazy and eager for him to make a move and I was still unaware of my feelings for him. I wasn't even sure if I actually had feelings for him. His lips sunk into my forehead for longer than expected. As he pulled me away, he brought me in for a hug. Gulping the lump in my throat, I sunk into him. Wrapping my arms around my his torso, I inhaled his scent. I wasn't sure what this was but I was content as I listened to his heartbeat and felt his fingers toy with my hair.
"Good night, beautiful." He whispered softly as he pulled away. He lay a fresh kiss onto my forehead once again and sent off a cheeky grin. A small blush began to creep onto my cheeks and I sent off a toothy grin in response. Justin jogged down the small steps and headed back down the drive way, a soft upbeat tune escaping his temple.
"Good night, Guitar Dude." I cooed before he disappeared out of the gate. Showing himself again, he sent off a wink that was hardly noticeable through the darkness.
