"So how did your date go with Darren?" Chandler asked Monica over a cup of coffee at central perk. It was just the two of them.
"Had a great time, actually. We may have hit it off." She said, smiling and taking a sip of her coffee.
"Eeeh i don't think he's good enough for you"
"And why not? You haven't even met the guy"
"Because." Monica gave him a look.
"He's smart, funny and he's a doctor! what more can you ask?"
"Hey! I'm all that!"
"Are you a doctor?"
"Pffft. But I'm way more better looking than him."
Mon just smiled as she rolled her eyes. Just then the gang came in from work.
Ross: Hi guys.
Mon: Hey. What's up?
Ross: Me and Rachel went out to see a movie.
Phoebe: That's lame! I wanna hear about monica's date with cute doctor! Ooh come ta momma!
Joey: Ooh Pheebs *secretly points to chandler* I bet someones not gonna like talking about that.
Chandler: No. No. It's okay. That guy is totally gay!
Monica: No he's not!
Joey: Dude that guy asked monica out. AND he has a pool.
Chandler: Geez Joe, a little support here?
Monica: Uhm guys, Monica IS here. She hears ya!
Chandler: Sorry for making you a little uncomfortable. It's just- I reeeaally reaally like you.
Monica: You know though
Chandler: I know.
a frown form in his face. Monica felt guilty about it but she didn't really have a choice. She can't force herself to like him. He's a friend. Even if Rachel and Phoebe always kept linking them together, saying how cute they are and noticing the small details of their closeness,teasing them, it just never hits her.
Monica: I don't want to change what we have. You know, what we are now is special and i love you but just not in that way.
Chandler: I understand. I mean its been what? 3 years since i had these feelings! What's the big deal?
Monica: Alright, stop making me feel bad already!
Chandler: So can i have a kiss?
She just laughed as a response and rested her head on his chest. He puts his arms around her, played with her hair and kissed the top of her head as a reflex, making his heart beat fast all of a sudden. Monica was irresistable to him.
Chandler:(whispers) Oh god you're killing me.
He tried to act cool and made himself more comfortable in that position.
Phoebe: You know you two look really good together. Why not just give it a chance? Just for us! Pleeeaassse.
Monica: Phoebe!
Phoebe: Then if you don't want things to happen between you two get the hell away from him!
chandler's eyes widened and realized that would hurt him even more.
Instead of listening to phoebe, monica hugged chandler and snuggled on the couch.
Monica: "But I like him beside meee. He's like my bunny." she said in a cute voice, smelling and feeling his white shirt.
Chandler: Well your bunny wunny needs to go home and feed the chick and the duck.
Mon: Oh. Okay.
she let go and was left with just the girls cause the guys followed after Chandler.
Rachel: Mon you have got to stop
Mon: What?
Rachel: The flirting!
Mon: I'm not!
Rachel: Well you're giving him mixed signals!
Mon: He's a friend and he knows that.
Rachel: For you its nothing but for him, its just killing him inside. Believe me.
Phoebe: Rachel's right. You're making it hard for him because the way i see it he's just falling even more inlove with you.
Mon: So are you saying I should just ignore him?
Phoebe: Yeah, if you don't want him to build feelings for you then you should just dodge him over.
Mon: Isn't there any other way?
Rachel: I know you don't wanna hurt him but there is no other choice.
Phoebe: Are you sure theres not even a teeensy weensy feeling developing for him? I mean, what about when the two of you just first met! Remember he had a crush on you and you did as well? And after a few months when you became close friends you both told eachother the truth remember?
Monica: Yeah but that was a long time ago. We're too close now. Feelings change.
Rachel: Well, can't it go back?
Mon: I don't know. Theres really no more spark.
Phoebe: Oh please you still blush every once in awhile.
Mon: It's a reflex okay?! You know me!
Phoebe: Well, that's true.
