"If this is living, I welcome death with open arms," I say leaning against the dusty window,
"Well, death won't be too far, considering we don't have a plan," Demi sighs, pacing the room, trying t think of any ideas,
"We're all going to die someday, maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after, but right now we're still alive, and I intend to stay that way" Will says lying flat on the creaking bed,
"Any ideas, Mr. Wise guy?" I asked, getting down from my perch, to sit next to him.
Will smiled, "Nope". He took my hand and caressed it with his thumb. I was scared, so was he, and so was everyone.
"We need more people," Max said finally. He was quiet the whole time and just sat on a rusted chair, fiddling his fingers,
Yeah, we need to fi-"
And just then, we heard a knock on the door. Logan pushed it open and looked suspiciously at us before walking in and shutting the door behind him, "Alex, I thought about what you said and-"
Demi cut in, "Okay, now we have five". Logan sat on the floor, his back to the side of the bed, "What's the plan?"
"We don't have one"
"Great. Just what I wanted to hear," he said sarcastically with a sigh,
"We have to go..." I whispered in Will's ear,
"Right," he said getting up before helping me to my feet. I poked Logan and he got up,
"Where are you guys going?" Demi asked, squinting her eyes at me,
"To train"
"Where?" he pushed,
"That doesn't matter," I say, knowing that if I mentioned the 'Triangle', Max would freak out and not let me go,
"It matters! We are a team now and right now we need to focus on a plan" she barked,
"Since when were you and I a team? You hated me!" I say walking forward,
"So now you're training for Bek?" She continued,
"Demi, Cal will find it suspicious if we didn't go," Will added, taking me by the shoulder, leading me towards the door. She didn't say anything and we walked out.
Cal met us in the gun room. He was geared up and ready, "What took you guys so long?" he asked,
"We were discussing...techniques," Logan said, slowly,
"Next time, I'm leaving without you"
We geared up and headed out again.
I nudged Will and Logan, when Cal wasn't looking, "We need to split up. Maybe we can find more survivors," I whispered,
Logan went up to Cal and they started whispering among each other. Finally Logan nodded and Will and I set off.
We made our way down the quiet streets until we found the place we were looking for. We took the stairs that descended down to the subway. It was cold and the floor was slippery. This was a perfect place to hide. I went left and he went right, slowly we separated until we were out of sight of each other. I looked around, my flashlight on, flooding the still, eerie darkness. I heard something fall behind me, I turned and was immediately whipped back, dropping my gun and the flashlight. I felt someone grab me from the back and I was held up against the figure, my scream blocked with a hand over my mouth,
"Shh, shh, it's okay, I won't hurt you," the voice whispered close to my ear. His grip around my mouth loosened, "I'm going to release you, don't scream"
He let go and for a second I stayed quiet before yelling, "WILL!"
The man grabbed me again, "I told you be quiet!"
"ALEX!" Will yelled back. I saw him running towards me, getting closer, before he was tackled by another figure.
I couldn't go to him because I was held back, "Now, look what you did?" the man said disappointingly before I felt something hit my head, and then it went black.
