Special thanks to @oliviawalde3 who requested this one shot and made the first comment in my book.
This is also my first request ever and my first try at making a story for one, but I hope you like it nonetheless :D

Just put it on. You were telling yourself, trying hard to be convincing. But what if he doesn't like me? What if I just imagined it?
You were getting yourself ready for the evening. Brand-Shei and you are going out for a drink at the Bee and Barb after he closes his stall for the day, but something kept distracting you. That 'something', is a certain amulet that you keep starting at, debating wether to put it on or not. And that 'certain amulet', is an Amulet of Mara. You've had a thing for Brand-Shei for quite a while now, so you decided to try to take it a step further. But you're just to afraid, really. Afraid that he doesn't like you the way you like him. Afraid that it will ruin the relationship you already have, whatever it is.
I'm not going to give in today. You decide eventually. Today I'll wear it.
You then grab the cause of all this worry and put it on as you head out towards the marketplace. You had been saving up for a while and after debating for another week or so, you finally purchased it from Marmal after another one of his sermons a few days ago.
"Y/N, you look lovely today. Ready to grab that drink?" Bran-Shei asks which pulls you out of your daze.
Realising just how close you are now, his hand on your shoulder and his face to close for comfort, makes your heart beat faster. And the compliment he gave you didn't really make it any better. But also realising that he asked a question, you reply with a silent nod.
Upon entering the Bee and Barb you get greeted by Talen-Jei before heading towards the counter. After settling down with a drink each, Brand-Shei starts the conversation like usual. As Keevara brings you and Brand-Shei another drink, she gives you a knowing look - eying your amulet. Of course she would notice, not that she needed to, she probably already knew you liked him after all the other looks she kept giving you every time you two were on your own.
Keevara's an Argonian and she noticed, so why hasn't he? Maybe he has but doesn't like me in that way. But he's a Dunmer, so maybe he actually doesn't know about it after all. But he was raised here in Skyrim, just like me, so he should know about it.
A voice eventually brought me out of my conflicting thoughts.
"Y/N, are you alright?" Brand-Shei repeated. "You seem even more quiet than usual."
"I'm fine, thank you."
And silence. But fortunately - or unfortunately depending on how you see it - the silence was broken by the question you had been waiting for.
With a cough for catching your attention first, he then asks the question. "That amulet, it's an Amulet of Mara, yes?"
You could feel yourself hold in your breath at the mention of the amulet, but nodded nonetheless.
"Do you have someone special in mind?" He continued, not facing you, but looking at his drink like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"Y-yes, I do." You cursed yourself for stammering.
Brand-Sheis' face seemed to drop as he asked, "Who?"
Calm down Y/N. Calm down. Tell him. You can tell him. It's now or never.
But Brand-Shei must have taken your initial silence as a sign of not wanting to tell him. Because he soon after awkwardly added, "Ah, uhm... You don't have to tell me." While drinking some more of his drink.
Now or never.
"It's you!" You blurted out, blushing furiously.
It looked so surprised that he might have spit out his drink, but he just swallowed and slowly turned around. His red eyes looking into yours, making your heart beat faster than it already was, if that was even possible at this point. You quickly averted your own eyes, not being able to look at him right now after just blurting it out like that. But Brand-Shei lifted your chin up towards his face, making you look straight into those red eyes of his again.
"Y/N" he breathed out softly, his breath tickling your face and making you shiver. He then locked his lips with yours, just for a second. And again. And then again. Until you got a proper taste of him and decided that you never wanted to stop. It was still a short and gentle kiss, but full of the love you've been wanting to show him. After breaking the kiss, you leaned back in your chair but his hand was now moved to your chin, still making you look at him.
"So..." You started, but were unable to continue. You wanted to ask him, but you were still trying to process everything that just happened.
"Yes." Brand-Shei whispered. "Yes, Y/N, I'll marry you." He said properly this time, a smile etching onto his face.
You just stared at him though, still trying to process everything. But realising that he loved you too. Realising that you can kiss him like that again, as many times as you want to. Realising that you're now going to marry him, that he wants to marry you. It all made you smile right back at him, your face still burning up and your heart thumping vigorously.
"I love you, Brand-Shei. I-I have for a long time now."
"I love you too, Y/N." He tells you, leaning in for another kiss.
This kiss, slightly more fierce but just as passionate, was more than just a kiss. It was a promise, a promise for what's to come. A promise of love.
