Chapter Six

It's been a week since my first date with Kyle. We've gone on a few dates like the movies, coffee at Starbucks, and we went on a picnic at the park since then. His British accent makes me melt and I'm sure I could listen to it all day.

It was after school and I was in the gym with Ariel, some other volunteers, and the football players getting the gym ready for our big pep-rally and carnival for the game that was coming up this Friday. It's one of our biggest games against Abraham, which means I get to see Kyle play for the first time. Well, I've probably seen him play, just without knowing it was him.

"Do you think you could make some flyers?" Mr. Audio asked as he hands me some photos of what he wanted. "You're one of my top students in my class, and it'd help with all that's going on. I have complete faith in you to make it snazzy or whatever."

"Yeah, I'll have them done by tonight, and I can drop them off to your class in the morning."

"That would work. Thank you so much."

Ariel and I were working on the paper maché wildcat head we were going to fill with candy, pretty much known as a piñata. But this one was the size of a car. When we win, the football players have raffle tickets that people paid for to have a chance to hit the head, and the money is going to a foundation. It's taken us a week and a half to get it done. And we're only 3 days away from the game. You can feel a lot of tension in the air; you could probably suffocate and die... I'm just kidding about the dying part. But you get it.

The football players were setting up booths outside, some were setting up banners, and then there were some doing the decorations. When it came to this game, it was all seriousness. We've been undefeated for years, and we're not going to let anybody change that. Apparently, they've had some new and improved football players, and better strategies at Abraham. But that still wouldn't bring our teams determination down. They've been training before and after school, and some of the guys do weekend trainings.

"What time is it?,"Ariel asks as she sets down the brush. She sprawls out on the floor and sighs. "I feel like we've been doing this for ages."

I took out my phone, clicking the home button. "5:41"

"We've been here for almost 2 hours?"

"Hey, it's worth it. Friday is the big game, and Saturday is the carnival. Our hard work will pay off and you know it."

"I know, I know. I'm just excited for us to hangout at the hotel and no parental supervision. Besides the teachers, but they don't really care what we do as long as we stay out of trouble."

"That's the best part about the game and carnival, we get to rent a hotel near the stadium and it's for the whole weekend, too."

"Yeah, but we have to share with Abraham High School."

Whenever we have an event for our schools big football game, we get to rent out hotel rooms for celebration. We get the hotels from Friday night to Sunday morning. The teachers know what happens with "celebrations", so they get us the rooms in preparation and safety precautions.

"Yeah, but they get one side and we get the other."

"What do you think their Saturday event is?" She asked as her face scrunched up in thought.

"Kyle told me its some party. They do it every year, but he didn't go into detail or anything."

"Are you ready to do the project presentation for Physics tomorrow?"

"Yeah, Sawyer and I finished last weekend." I replied, "How about you and Greyson?"

"We finished the first week. He's actually really smart. We have a lot in common actually. He told me he just prefers to observe than talk and get involved. But I got to know him a lot more because of this project. We've hung out a few times too."
