            She smiled, laughed, and cheered

Wearing a pink shirt, pink shorts, pink socks

She guzzled, she shouted, she guffawed

Being in the party, with the people, on the floor

She had blonde hair, fair skin, and a beautiful smile

She had pearly teeth and sapphire eyes

She had beauty in every way but one

Behind her splendor was a hidden girl of imperfections

Beneath her neon-colored clothes were scars that ran deep

Cuts, bruises, wounds---self-inflicted specks of her past

Abuse, pain, hurt          ---              burnt images of her past

 None of them were visible

For these had been erased

By a doctor's touch, the marks went away

By this process, the pain seemed to have gone away

She realized that blemishes were superficial

For the true pain was in the heart

Cuts, bruises, wounds all healed

           Abuse, pain, hurt all stayed

But she smiled, laughed, and cheered

She guzzled, she shouted, she guffawed

On and on

On and on

On and on

On and on

On and on

Till the party ended

So

She smiled one last time, laughed one last time, and cheered one last time

She guzzled one last time, she shouted one last time, she guffawed one last time

One last time, she lived.

That was the last time she was seen.
